Thread: Will the devs admit they handed melee's role to CH?

Every day, more and more, I get tempted to go the easy route by dropping pike, picking up marksmen, and buying two level 15 non-CH pets. It took 3 months to get my vibro weapons, longer to ever hope for mounts, and heaven-only-knows-how-long to see balance fixes our class desperately needs. I love pike, I want to stay with it, but this long and drawn-out 'we're looking at it, we swear' excuse would test the patience of most Buddhist monks. Is there any hope of seeing the following?

1. Admissions on whether they intended melee in general (and pike specifically) to be in the sorry state it is. Weak, ambiguous, and ignored... mostly to play second fiddle to NPC creatures, of all things.

2. Ballpark dates for balance redresses with REAL numbers so we know what to expect for our profession in terms of changes? I'd hate to blow 5-20k on a nice weapon only to see the HAM/range mod fix be performed on the side of the weaponsmith 2 days later (forcing me to buy a newer, better one or be left behind).

3. A clue as to how often our issues are brought up for review. Does it boil down to every profession board having to multi-sign a 'fix-it-or-we-bail' ultimatum? Do we HAVE to be the squeakiest wheel to get the grease or is it general policy to leave everyone in the dark (including correspondants)?

You see, there's a fatal flaw in your post. It makes too much sense. You ask the logical questions. They can't comprehend that.

Ball park days... well then. You have learned nothing from SWG. ball park days are wrong. It only gives false hope.

Just going to have to wait and hope. While you wait. Get that master (insert other profession here). you have 250 points. Pike takes up only so many. Go get master something else and have fun waiting for pike to get fixed. It is a game. Enjoy it.

Regarding 1), they stated from the begginning that the melee were going to be inferior to ranged. They never guaranteed tanks either, but they made it clear that SW is about lasers, not swords.

Something I read sometime ago. Well, let me say first. I agree. Melee should be able to tank for Groups, and not be forced to use pets.

I recommend also checking out http://www.castersrealm.com

This is a great source of information on news from the developers. Reason I refer to this is because weeks ago I read that the developers feel that melee should have special skills so that can tank for their groups and not be forced to uses pets with higher HAM.

Im sure if u look thru there archives you will find that information still listed. I recommend this site in your everyday surfing if your currently not.

Thats exactly what just happened in the recent patch. The IN TESTING section states, "Decreased polearm move costs" while the patch notes state "Reduced the HAM costs on advanced sword core and vibro blade components." There goes the 17K I just paid for a LVA and slicing YESTERDAY! God damnit, I hate these people.

If you're mad because you bought and sliced a LVA yesterday then it's your own fault. The patch notes have been up for almost two weeks with that information. I myself have been in correspondence with my favorite smith, and he is planning to make me some new pikes this evening so we can see the changes.

Since pikeman is borked already and commandos and BH own close quarters combat with ranged wepons of godly damage now I think we should go one step farther and introduce stargate into the swg world and give us staff weapons of insta kill blasts.. Then we shall be reveared!
