Thread: Beyond Master Pikeman?

To all Pikeman, I am collecting info on what type of Prestige Class you would like to see after Master Pikeman. For example...

After achieving Master Ranger you have now opened the paths to:

  1. The Outdoorsman (Big Game Hunter)

  2. Antarian Ranger (possesses minor force resistances and abilities)

  3. Combat Ranger (master of guerilla warfare)

Those were just examples of ideas I had for the Ranger profession. Now that you hopefully see where I am going with this idea, I would love to see where you would like thePikeman to go after achieving the title of Master Pikeman. Any and all input is welcome, but please try to keep it constructive.

I dont want to see it go anywere beyond what it is now.......what I would like to see is what we have at the moment improved up on. Its a great proffesssion, but needs some basic loving. I think you have to be realistic here, the devs aint going to create a whole new skill tree beyond master anytime soon. Lets just push them to getour top ten issues fixed first...then you from there.

I really like the idea of additional professions after master but I have a question though.

Since they are capping defense mods and our weapons are no good, what does an additional profession have to offer pikemen?

The devs are solely interested in keeping 'balance', so I highly doubt they will offer new 'uber damage' moves in an additional profession. As well they isn't much in the way of additional speed, accuracy, etc. that they can really offer us to make it worthwhile.

I can see in a passive profession, such as ranger, more abilities and whatnot, but I can't see the same for a combat profession, such as pikeman.

I really do like the idea, I just can't see it being worth a d@mn.

Well, I see your point, but obviously this is something that were it to be implemented, it could be a year or more off. So humor me. If you could have a class higher than Master Pikeman, what would it be? An idea I had was that perhaps you couldbecome an Imperial Guardsman assuming you have a high enough Imperial ranking once you achieve master. There are many things you could become. Let's just hear what you would like. You don't have to be realistic or even worry about if this will every be included in game. Just let your imaginations flow and see what you can come up with.

We threw the Imperial Guardsmen idea at the devs already and it didn't float.

I know some fools are going to chime in with the 'jouster' ideas (NO MOUNTED COMBAT!).

Well ifI must 'humour you'. How about a sentinel or phalanx type profession where the focus would be on the protection of your group.

You could throw in a special where you would drop to you knee with your pike extended and keep mobs at bay whilst your group rally behind you. If you had several of these uber pikers in your group you could form a line and create a wall of pikes for your friends to hide behind.

I don't know if that sounds cheesy or not but I think its a half decent idea.

It sounds great. Cheesy or not, you did exactly as I asked, you gave me your idea. Didn't say it had to be good or that it could not be cheesy. Thanks for the input Legwand.

I You've only got 18 skill points left after mastering ranger, and pikeman. I guarantee you'll want those for medic.

I've really got nothing constructive to offer as far as a hybrid profession extending from Master Pikeman. Just that any extentions we get should have more diverse AOE attacks, and whatever new moves it would have still need to look good. It's all about the show, kiddies, it's all about the show. Oh, and fire lances.

I like the phalanx idea. how about elite-elite professions that offer group bonuses? For example. when two phalanx pikeman group together they both get +'s to speed and accuracy. three or more and they kick some serious butt. other members of your group get a bonus to melee defense since a phalanx line would be tough to break. ranged attacks get a serious bonus to accuracy because we give them a secure pocket to shoot from. these phalanx bonuses obviously would only be in effect when you get another phalanxer (?) in your group. alone you get no bonuses at all therefore the skill point set would be totally different. they could be called group skill points and you have to have a pre-requisite mastered skill to open up the phalanx. this group skill idea could benefit nearly every other elite profession in the game and give us reasons not to dabble, also promoting group play that so many devs talk about. weaponsmiths could get a crafting enclave type bonus with fewer crit fails. rangers get hunting party harvesting bonuses that increases the amount of meat harvested. etc etc. the bonuses coulndt be anything silly that would make groups overpowered, but they can add a fun new group component to the game and give people with that post grind "what now?" feeling something to do. The real kicker to group skill bonuses would be that you only get the experience when grouped with other phalanx students.

How about a "I'm going to kick your ***" branch.

Where it adds to Pikeman toughness , speed and accuracy. I figure that would be nice, I'd have a nice name like Master Battle Ram or something. I dunno , just as long as I get more offense or more Defense it works for me.

The phalanx Idea works but I really only know 1 other pikeman on my server.

Im sorry but i still cant believe the Devs use the continuity reason for not giving us the possibility to own/use the royal guard outfits.

We have stormies dancing in cantinas, we got more jedis on one server then the whole jedi population in the SW universeaccording to the timeline that the devs so often claim to follow.

Why not make it a side quest in the emp. retreat ? once you start working for the emperor you can get a sideplot that only master pikeman can get. Make it kinda long and in the end you are equipped with the outfit and a forcepike. i dont want to walk around in a red robe of honor and red comp. helmet, i want the real thing..pretty please ?

Also, as new pikeman, "Hi!"

This profession is very broken, but it makes up for it with our drop-dead gorgeous animations and moves, and that we are definently not a FOTM, (no im not hologrinding. I actually choose to drop Master rifleman/master CM for this )
