my first long vibro axe had -55 at all ranges, first time I used it I cried. My second long vibro axe was -32 -18 -32, I started hitting alot more with some really good damage. Working toward Polearm 4 now.

You might want to check the thread named Advanced Guide has some tips and tricks within if you're really into it.

Just remember that this prof doesn't get cool or useful or even mentionable until about 2/3 of the way through it. Then you own. But like 1 box before that you still pretty much suck. There's no middle ground or transition phase.

Hi,

You may want to do a skill point count as its impossible to master CM and one melee elite profession. After doing all melee elites at one time or another, my advice is to go swords if those are your only 2 choices and your only doing a single elite melee profession. A doctor/pikeman is a nice combo leaning mainly as a support role in groups for PvP, but for solo PvP it is weakest out of the melee professions as a stand alone, but doable. For PvE pikeman is very strong and alot of fun. With swords you get a little better defenses (not much) and blast damage which most high lvl NPCs are vulnerable to.

If your open to any melee elite. plus maybe keeping doctor I think fencer/doctor is my favorite. Fencer has really nice defenses and fits well with a doc meaning you can use a looping CoB macro (almost like your own personal shield) entering hot spots to heal/save your friends in battle and still hold your own in PvE and PvP. I have taken on a Bull Rancor, Enraged Rancor, and a normal Rancor all at the same time SOLO, killing them all with a non sliced run of the mill stun baton with CoB running and didn't break a sweat.

Good Luck

I think most of my own problems with Pikeman are solely because I'm a wookiee and I get owned no matter what I do. Although, the fact that the profession has next to no defense doesn't help either.

I've definately had a lot of fun with Pikeman, I started it as a Holo profession, but I want to keep it now if at all possible when I move on to whatever it is I decide to do next...*shrug*

It's a lot of fun, could only get better when they get around to balancing it with everything else.

How much combat XP will you carry over into Pikeman?

I'm still grinding profs....and that makes it sooo much easier...when you can take Novice...and then become 0/0/0/3...

And then you should be able to finish your combat tree by the time you finish the 4th box speed tree....and be 4/0/0/4.

If you have a bunch of Combat XP saved up....I'd stick with your current Master combat prof...and get to around 245k combat xp (unless you are capped right now)....that way when you earn your 216k Polearm xp to get Brawler 1-4 + Novice Pikeman... you'll have enough Combat XP for 0/0/0/3.... 265k total needed.

The cap for combat xp is 300k, so if you keep a combat based skill in another prof, and train up before dropping, you can keep a continuing cycle of 300k carryover on each new prof, i've done it from bh to swordsman to pikeman, and will do it for fencer/tk, makes life a lot easier.
