I'm an armorsmith so my points to spend arelimited....
But, this is what I am thinking ....In addition to novice medic and master pikeman..how about 0-0-4-0 in pistoleer? It looks like the defense line in Pistoleer give me the most bang for the skill points. I thought about doing another melee profession to stack, but I hate the thought of not having range ability. Given I have top armor, buffs, food etc, think I could hold my own? Or am I smokin something?

It's a tough call. without the pistol accuracy line, you're going to miss tons. Without the tecniques line, you won't have the damaging specials. For PvE I think you'd be ok with 0-0-4-0 pistol, but it would mostly just be for pulling or for backup in case you need a ranged weapon.

The thing about pistols is that you hit way more frequently than you should, it may not be bugged like that never missing ability you get halfway up TKA, but still. I speak as both someone with Master Pikeman and before that had novice pistoleer for a looooong time. Pistoleer 0/0/4/0 is your best bet both for the +50 kd defense (and other good defenses), etc. and Stopping Shot. It's what I'm planning to do myself.

If you want a range attack why not Rifleman 4/0/0/0 (Snipe Tree)? That way you would def. have a ranged attack and if they get too close for comfort whip out the ole LVA. Maybe even Carb for mid-range....your prefrence.

I'm Master Pistoleer, Pikeman 4/1/1/4.
It seems like a weird combo. For pure power, I'd go master pistol + expert BH. If you have to absolutely include pikeman in your template, I don't think pistol is best. Get rifleman instead.
