OK, the new LVAs and vibro lances are out, with better range mods. I picked up a 375 max damage LVA with a -24 to each range mod, and a 299 max damage vibro lance, 4.0 speed, -4 to each range mod. OK, actually, I picked up 8 of each to ensure a good slice, but that's not the point.

I was working with a weaponsmith friend, experimenting on the ranges and damage with both weapons. What would YOU prefer to see more of:

Long Vibro axe with +5!!! to the range mods, but a max damage of only 201 and a speed of 5.whatever (unsliced of course)

LVA with a -15 to the range and a max damage of around 330, speed of 5.0

LVA with 375 max, -24, 4.5 speed

VL with 300 max, 4.0 speed, -4 range

VL with 225 max, 4.5 speed, +10 range

Lets see some answers folks, pikeman is starting to get popular now, and Kettemoor can have a nice supply at my friend's shop by Kor Vella. I told him I'd see some results with the voting.

Well, I just picked up an LVA with -50. Guess it was before this upgrade. But, seeing as how we miss a lot, I'd rather do more damage when I do connect. High damage, low speed, lower range mods is what I'd like, but I've only been Pike for tonight...hehe Already to Pole 4.

I miss maybe once out of ten or fifteen shots, so for me, its all about the damage.

Ditto, after hitting Master Pikeman you land all the hits you haven't landed in all the progression some kind of revenge thing. Even now though I have two main weapons dependant on occassion.

An LVA with 110-378 48% Wound -32/-32/-26 Speed sliced at 3.0 for specials when buffed.

An LVA with 148-469 52% Wound -34/-34/-28 Speed 4.5 Damage sliced of course, when doing the auto attack gig.

If you check the DPS on those two, the first has 1.9 for PH3 while the second has 2.8 for the same move (ugh). The damage output on the second LVA is pretty nasty, I've landed some 4k hits on NS Stalkers but its too slow for comfort.

By the way where the hell can I get SEAs to get a +15 on Polearm speed? I did some calculations and with 90 speed any Pike with 4.5 speed or lower hits speed caps with specials...hate it that I have to pay millions to get decent but that's SWG for us Pikers I guess...

Despite the fact that you're not on Starsider...I prefer multiple pikes. High acc for landing my state/posture changes, then a high damage one for when their defenses are lowered from the state changes.

I love guys who lay out their battle plans like this.

When it comes to fighting big game like nightsisters and rancor, there is hardly any plan that goes into the damn thing. Hardly any state changes work against the big game. Out of 15 shots, 1 might land a state change. Unless your fighting a spell weaver or a protector in which case 1 out of 30 might land a state change.

Best stick with the damage axes all the time. The only reason I switch up weapons is to drop different DOTs on PCs in PvP. Other than that, its all damage, all the time.

If you hit up player vendors, you can find a lot of them cheap. Most people think "Polearm speed, stupid... ooh, polearm damage!" I've seen Polearm Damage +1 for upwards of 50k, but I just bought a Polearm Speed +3 for 3k. People underestimate the usefulness of the Polearm Speed SEAs, so they sell them cheap. Granted, you need to buy quite a few of them to add up to 15, but you should be able to get by spending less than 100k.

With the +75 we get at master, at what speed do we hit the cap? I'm still using a speed sliced LVA/VL, although I have damage ones in my inventory for when I KD a target.

I have a 370 max Lance with +24's for range mods, which is higher than every VL I have. And my two LVAs are 550 and 715 max with -30 ranges for the 550, and -65 for the 715. It's too bad it couldn't have been looted after the accuracy patch, woulda been a hella good weapon.

I use a 2.7 speed 155-575 VL it rules it is a ns lance btw i prefer high dam high speed
