I have been a TKM, M Swordsman, M Fencer, and now working on M Pikeman (and some ranged professions as well).Anyway I noticed things had been going rather slowly for me, xp wise, so I decided to check out some sites about special attacks and such. Much to my suprise,we pikemen are woefully underpowered. Hereare acoupleexamples of what I am referring to:

Profession Special DelayMod Damage Mod

TKMHit3 x3(no matter with 115 speed)x4

Fencer Hit3 x2.25x4

Swordsman Hit3 x2.5 x4

PikemanHit3x2.5 x3

And now area atacks - supposedly our bread and butter:

As you can plainly see, Pikeman shares the same delay mod with Swordsman, but unfortunately, doesn't share the same damage mod and this is why Pikeman is not as powerful as Swordsman.Not to mention that our weapons are sub par in comparison toSwordsman. Yes I have seen a few posted here in the forum, but let's face facts-they arerare indeed.

I'm not out to get any professionsnerfed, so please don't flame me for something so ridiculous. I am posting this information because I hear people all the time talking about how weak pikemen are in comparison to their other melee counterparts, but have no idea why. Also, since I started down the pikeman path myself, I have grown fond of it and would like to see it get on-par with the other melee profesisons.

I hope this is taken seriously, because Pikeman is a great profession to play, but currentlyit has no teeth.

The special move info on that website isoutdated bullcrap. From my ownrecent testing, I can report with 100% confidence these are the special move mods for Swordsman:

If you want similarly accuratedata for Pikeman, you have to test it for yourself. It does not seem to be available anywhere

One thing seems clear: if Pikeman is anything like Swordsman, it's no wonder we depend on speed tapes to get anything done. Just look at the damage/time ratio for hit3: for all the HAM cost, we're doing a lousy 23% more dps than autoattack. Hit2 is actually betterin terms of damage done over time

Yeah, some of those numbers are slightly off. I'm working on an updated table, I have some preliminary results at the end of the stickied table post at the top. We are still behind in terms of dps and max damage capabilities.

I don't doubt that at all.and getting farther behind, now that TK is gaining access to anuberknuckler with ahigher min. damage... as if they needed to be even more mitigation-proof

by the way, good job on your testing so far.let me know if you wantthe method I used for testing the time factors,if you want to establish those as well... it wasn't rocket science, just a way to make it less of a chorethan it would have been otherwise

Pikemen whine because we know the facts and we complainand are still ignored

Take for instance the Jedi and what they have received (and they still whine)

Watch what you say about StGabriel.. he's been one of our loudest supporters (outside of the profession, that is). He was making suggestions on what to try screaming about to get us a fix, and fixing a couple of things.

Don't worry, Gabriel... we love ya.

And gunman... keep up the good work. Our frustration knows no bounds... just remember that it's never your fault, even if once in a while someone sends the blame your way.

Usually I would agree with you about StGabriel.I have said he is a good Swordsman correspondent, but his behavior here on the Pikeman forum is appalling to me.

I have to say I am quite shocked at the treatment, or lack thereof, Pikeman has received in this game. I just read Gunman21's post"In-Depth Analysisof Pikeman" (great job btw), and I am appalled by, not only the fact that Pikeman rates so low compared to the other melee professions overall, but by the Swordsman Correspondent's repeated attempts to undermine Gunman21's entire argument about the damage multiplier.

As I stated in myoriginal post, I have been a Master Swordsman. I know what they are capable of, and believe you me, it's a HELL of a lot more than Pikeman! I could do more damage at 0414 HS than I can at Master Pikeman- no BS. Why do you think that is, StGabriel? (man what a pretentious name)

I'm sorry, but this is just too ridiculous for words. Pikeman (in it's current state) is inferior to every other melee class. Why in the bloody Hell is nothing being done to rectify this. If it is the developer assigned to Pikeman/DE, than file a complaint against him/her and try to have them replaced. I have only been a Pikeman for a short time, and I am already frustrated beyond belief. A feeling I never had with Swordsman(hands down best area damage dealer), TKM(1 trick pony, but it's a dam good one!)orFencer(PvP gods).

I'm starting to think that until we really make a show of it, nothing will be done, so I for one am dropping Pikeman as of right now. I urge all other Pikemen that are fed up with the profession to do the same. Maybe then, they will realize there is a real problem here. It's sad really, I enjoy the Pikeman visuals and the whole feel more than any other melee class, but the drawbacks are just too overwhelming.
