hi all
well i was under the stupid notion that the combat medic prof was gonna get nerfed. with the removal of dots it only makes sense to get rid of the grand daddy of them all, yet from what i'm seeing the combat medic poison attacks are still going to be there, and it looks like they even have more options, like mezing (similar to our warcry). some of you might wanna check out the combat medic page and have a look.... if they remove my dots and keep cm,s poison and disease i'm just wondering how i'm supposed to beat a cm/ rifleman with no dots.... if some of you get a chance to have a look at this can you let me know what yo think,...i'm on the very of losing it here

Pikeman is NOT about DoTs. If you're comparing CMs with Pikeman and are upset about CMs having DoTs when Pike doesn't, you're in the wrong place, in my opinion.

CM is Ranged Support. Pike will be Tank/Enemy Manipulation.

i agree totally pike isn't about dots.... you are totally right
but the problem is when i'm overt and in a fight and all of a sudden my mind starts ticking at 500-1k...well, i don't last long, especially when the cm then switches to rifles and pounds away lol. unfortunately becasue of the offense the poison gives a combat medic, i have no choice to compare them, cause when one prof has mind poison and i don't even have a mind attack, well youdo the math. also, combat medic prof isn't about poison (except in this game for some reason) it's about healing the soldiers on the battlefield i thought. it's kind of silly haveing the combat medic as the strongest offencive threat lol. they are healers not fighters. also, this is starwars, and the combat medics with their massive poison attacks don't really fit in to the starwars theme imo. i don't see why we don't lose the whole combat medic prof!! really why not? let's get rid of all poison, disease and fire, and make fighting more skill/strategy orientated. i know the cms would be upset but i doubt anyone els would be. could be wrong though

- That won't happen in CU - DoTs won't be that powerful.
well, i don't last long, especially when the cm then switches to rifles and pounds away lol.
- Neither with the Rifleman with his terrible defence.
becasue of the offense the poison gives a combat medic, i have no choice to compare them, cause when one prof has mind poison and i don't even have a mind attack, well youdo the math.
- Mind won't be so easily attackable in CU; and what Math?
also, combat medic prof isn't about poison (except in this game for some reason) it's about healing the soldiers on the battlefield i thought.
- CM's are Medical Specialists. That includes offence as well as defence. Pure healing is Doc's job.
they are healers not fighters
- They're both.
also, this is starwars, and the combat medics with their massive poison attacks don't really fit in to the starwars theme imo
- Neither does taking on 8 Rancors by yourself, having more melee weapons than ranged, Jedi roaming around Theed, being able to swing a hammer as quick as throwing a punch, amongst plenty of other things.
. i don't see why we don't lose the whole combat medic prof!!
- Ummm, group with a Doctor?
let's get rid of all poison, disease and fire, and make fighting more skill/strategy orientated
- That makes it less so. Having another dimension to the fighting increases strategic complexity in combat. Now you'll need to have a Doctor and counter - profs.

ok ok... i am not going to change my views on the combat medic, but several have come to their defence and i'll respect that. if more people than not feel the need for this kind of warfare then i will have to just accept it i guess
i hope you're right about the cm poison being reduced to a respectable tick. myself, i just don't understand the need for it. would love to hear others opinions....maybe someone will agree with me lol

There are no elite professions on Test yet, so no way to judge the power of a CM.
Most of your concerns are based on the old system, where mind ruled above all and armor was impenetrable without DoTs. That will no longer be the case. If CMs really are unbalanced, there will be plenty of people rushing to get them back into a balanced state.

Not that people are defending them, but just saying that all the numbers and tricks will be different. Mind won't be that important in the CURB, and the DoTs will be toned down.

You are comparing apples to oranges and no-one even knows what they taste like yet. In CU testing we are only in the novice professions, elite trainers have all been removed so there is absolutely no way to train in Pikeman or CM. We can look at the skill boxes, but they are subject to change at each patch and a discription only means so much if you can't actually use it.
I think what people are mounting up in defence is for the way it is currently on live. A good doc or two will seriously hamper a CM's effectiveness. Although, yes it is unbalanced, hence we are in test![]()
