Thread: dueling observation for devs...

if you go to the mining oupost on dant and spend a few hours just hanging around you will notice something pretty cool, almost every prof except combat medics dueling. the duels are usually no dot duels, or in cases where the players acknowledge a prof advantage, dots may be allowed. the emphesis is on skill for the most part (ther are exceptions). devs, you should have a look at this (i know you do) cause it's really telling of what pvpers want. pvpers imo want a nice skilled fair fight. if a player is dominated it is usually because of the skill and experience the player has, in most cases anyway. i think it would be nice if the cu made open overt combat more like this. just my opinion......

that's right torki, that's my whole point. overt we use dots cause we use everything possible to win that the game gives us, that means dots, cm's etc... but dueling we make it fair cause it just for fun. my point is that overt fighting should be fair that way, and it's not up to the player to do it, it's up to the devs to create an overt pvp environment that reflects this. a combat upgrade is great and everything, but it's costing players a lot of money, so it needs to be fair and done right, not just a reset with a whole new set of the old problems.

Your wrong in a sense because before the cu all pvp prof were CM RM TKM DOC and Anyone other prof if you have a good dot weapon. IN pVp it's based on mind damage and dot's kicking out all other prof from being O.K at pvping. THE CU requires all prof to make a good PVP group. And each prof can be counteracted by another. so now after the cu all profs are worth something in PVP. After the CU other than Jedi there will be NO perfect combo of templates.

should be interesting to see how this all plays out. i love the idea of these dots being removed, and love what seems to be a focus on guarding against insane uber, so that should make fighting more interesting. i still just don't like that combat medic prof at all, cause of poison, but many are defending it so i'm willing to wait and see. lol what els can i do hehe

dueling there are rules -- in pvp it is wahtever wins -- btw dots are not the end all i have a secret !--- dont tell anyone doc 4030 you will render any dot useless -----------if you dont get it you CHOOSE to loose to dots

if you wear no helmet and fight a swordsman is it unfair that you take full damage to the dome?

if you say no you are sadly mistaken

take that and apply it to dots in pvp

no, the problem was cookie-cutter templates. sure, riflemen, CMs, docs, and dot-whores are good at pvp right now. but so are those who spend the time to get to know their profession. i have seen carbineers take down riflemen, i have seen pikemen (me) take down CMs no problem, i have seen non-docs win against people who dot like crazy. it all comes down to strategy. the only thing with it is that people in this game are too lazy to use strategy, but if you take the time, you will dominate in pvp.

ya, throw food into the mix and you have even more strategic options.... doc is good for dots, however you are using alot of skill points. i stacked my dots on a doc/whatever, andhe cured the dots as i pounded him with my damage pike. but your right that is an option for dots. i used to duel my cm friend and beat him 50%of the time as well with my dots. but i like the idea of longer fights as opposed to 45 second mind dot races but in conclusion...i'm glad their getting rid of dots maybe i'll come to regret that stance.

ummm thats what the CU is all about. balancing the professions and trying to ensure that everybody has a chance of a fair fight. Dots are being removed and every combat prof will have its ups and downs.

I agree with whoever said that a post-cu pvp group would need a diversity of profs. 1v1 post -cu pvp might be a rock-paper-scissors type thing....damage dealer beats tank, tank beats crowd controller, crowd controller beats damage dealer....or something like that.

Even as a master doc I could never heal DOTs faster than they could be applied by a speed-capped master pikeman, even assuming (s)he was the only one trying to apply a DOT to me. Trying to heal such DOTs in practice in pvp is an exercise in futility. Trust me, you'll run out of Poison Cure C packs before that DOT-whore pikeman runs out of DOT charges.
