Thread: Template for CU. Advice. Suggestions?

Well I love Pikewoman and will not drop it for the CU. I refuse to be Jedi and keep all my REAL classes that I have mastered.
Here is what I am looking at for my template after the CU hits. This is if I can get the FS stuff out of the way before then.
Feelings?
Master Pikewoman
Master Commando
TK 4000
Brawler 4044
Marksman 0104
Combat Prowess 0404
Enhanced Reflexes 4400
If I can't get my FS stuff done, I will add more pistol skills for launcher pistol.

Meditate will be different after the CU, andthus could affect your choice to go 4000 tk.
I would suggest that if you go melee that you stack melee due to the way the new mods work. Since commando is damage, I would suggest going swords/pike. Of course, that's not saying pike/commando is a bad template, just that it's slightly more efficient to go swords/pike.
But really, it all comes down to what you like. If you like commando and pike, do it, because it'll be FUN.

Commando/Pikes is fun, not an uber template. Leaning towards putting my 52pts into a ranged profession. Maybe rifles or pistols to get some ranged specials for my commando weapons

Im going with
master pikes
master swords
master brawler
and maybe pick up some doc or cm dunno if their gonna be any good yet
but this template should give me a dmg dealing proffession and a defensive also lots of speed and acc

Remeber u83r is going away. You'll be a better brawler if you stack melee on melee, but without ranged you're gunna be a sitting duck.

hence commando... nothing says "Kite this!" better than heavy weapons :-P

Thanks for the advice Gunman21. If Meditate is not going to be the same, can you shine any other light on this? Besides the healing, the stance is cool too. Would be nice if each melee class got some sort of stance-skill like this. So, since you said to do swords/pike for a melee stack, what will be the caps on melee/ranged defence. I know stacking defences is going the way of the dinosaur. Just trying to be sure. CU has me a bit confused and the last thing I want to do is grind more if I choose a lame template.

There will certainly be some stacking, the devs never said they were getting rid of defense stacking.. only the uber defense-stacked, one-template-wins-all situations. Melee Defense, Ranged Defense, General Melee Speed, and General Melee Accuracy are all in the CU skill trees and I do not see why these would not stack. This will obviously not make you UBER though! In addition there are profession-specific defenses, i.e. Polearm Defense, Polearm Accuracy, Polearm Speed that will presumably add on when you have the corresponding weapon equipped. There are no defenses vs. states anymore. These are handled differently.

The loss of defences vs states really hurts. Been buying aa's/ca's for CU and now it looks like I wasted a ton of money for nothing!

Pikewoman ? ive been trying to get people on my server to change it to that but none will yet

Hold onto them anyway. No telling what Defense vs. tapes will turn into when the CU goes live.
