Thread: Pikeman/Melee NEW moves we should have!

Think of real life martial arts when thinking about all melee classes. Or think of all the exotic training that people of our classes do to become elite.


Think about how the FOTM ranged professions are walking around looking down upon us.


Fencer/Sword/Pike/TK...we are suppose to be close quarter combatants. We only have a 5 meter attack radius and if your a level 80 duel master melee template, more then likely your base movement is that of a snail.


If we are rooted and the attacker keeps knocking us down and running away, we can never be the crowd controling close quater players this game wants us to be.


Melee classes at MASTER level should have the following abilities.


Root/Snare Recovery.

+25 Terrain Neg or Improved Burst Run.

Improved Leg assault or Stun which works as a trip up or Snare so we can Root at close assaults.

All ranged warfare classes should always have a greater negative accuracy verse a Master of close quarter combat.

Close Quarter Weapon Disarm...watch Jet Li remove 5 guns from 5 guys that surround him.


If we are to be feared at close qauters, then make it so! Plus we can't be crowd controlers and close combat experts when everyone is rooting us from 30+ meters away and speed running around throwing glow sticks at us.


Within 5 to 10 meters...we should be deadly. But when everyone avoids this zone...we are nothing!

If you want terrain negotiation, pick up Scout or get some of the new Terrain Negotiation BE clothing. No need to add it in as a skill in Melee.


Root/Snare recovery, definately. Or at the very least add a 30 second counter before you can be rooted/snared again, as KD has.


A melee level Snare, yes. I belive that Fencer has one though, or someone does anyway.


Personally, I'd be happy with a more effective Taunt and better damage reduction abilities. Intimidate isn't really that effective, and Taunt is a joke. Get 1-2 attacks from a powerful ranged character and your the aggro's right back on him again.

The reason I pick a bonus to terrain negotiation is that your trained to be light on your feet when learning martial arts. Your skilled to move faster.

Think of a TKM not wearing armor. That character should be faster in movement.

Agreed.


I'm pretty sure that any Kung-Fu, er I mean Teras Kasi Master had the ability to break root. And it's on a 30 second timer.
