Thread: Master Pikeman vs. Master TK
Alright...I'm lazy and am using this time to procrastinate, but I had something happen to me over the weekend that sparked some curiousity. First I will let you all in on the events that led to this post.
Up until this weekend I had never been on a Krayt hunt that actually found any Krayts and it was to my surprise to make that journey to Tatt and immediately run into a juvenile canyon krayt. Well my group and I proceeded to open up that "can" on the Juvy and while it slowly picked us apart I was loving every minute of it. After about 20 mins of incaps, fighting, running, and shouting we finally took him down. So this is where the fun starts, we are all in camp talkin about how great that was when another group runs into the graveyard....an Imp group. Being that my group and I are all rebels we keep our distance and play it cool. We all ran out here to hunt Krayts, but you never know what may jump off. After chillen for a while, not one, not two, but three Krayts spawn...to juveniles and the all mighty adult canyon krayt. As soon as the pop we choose our target and begin the assault and to our surprise the Imp group begins in on the krayts as well....being that there were 3 krayts running around we welcomed the help...well after taking down the two juveniles I sick my 2 maulers on the adult(being master ch as well) and begin the assault on the adult krayt when it turns to me and BUCKS me with its massive tail instantly incappin me...so while my group blasts away at it with my pets tankin for them(along with many others) this Imp(I will not forget his name) Gilbert Grape runs up and db's me...so cheap shot number one, well thats okay...to be expected I'm overt and I am fully prepared for the consequences. Well eventually I look around and see that the Imp group has retreated back and left us to fend for ourselves, which is no problem being that we were doing fairly well...I remained dead at the scene just in case we had a rezzer in group and watched as my maulers along with the rest of my group finally brought down the Krayt and this is where the fun begins, as soon as all is said and done, the imp group begins to attack us...finding us not that easy to take down they retreat again but since they had attacked my pets aggro'd on them(in their weakened state) and were drawn off....to their doom. After drawing my pets off this imp proceeded to work my pets, incappin them repeatedly while I sat helplessly and watched their vitality drop to 34 and 36/100. All the while I'm sitting there STEAMED that someone would sink as low as to first db me while I was incapp'd instead of facing me while I was standing, then workin my maulers over after they had been pretty much destroyed by the krayt....so now I'm out for revenge.
So with all that said, here is my question: Can a Master Pikeman defeat a Master TK?? I ask this because when I let the imp know that I would definitely return to avenge my pets and myself...he laughed me off saying that he would be Master TK by the end of the night and was not concerned with me. So now I want to put the fear of god in this Imp....but was wondering would I be able to go toe to toe with him?? He did me soo dirty...but I do not want to sink to his level in cheapness...I would rather face him straight up that way after I /polesweep2 and /polearmhit3 his azz I can stand over him and say: "You just got knocked the f*ck out!" Any master pikeman explored this scenario??

Bleed him. Just bleed him and then kite him. Sure, you can't hit him but he can't hit you either and he is going to be bleeding to death while he chases you. Time to use some of those marksman techniques to our advantage ![]()
I'm a TKM, depends if he's that cocky you could probley take him, lead with warcry or sweep then the dizzy thing you do.
Only real hope us TKM's have agains the other melee, all in all its a pretty good hope, id KD2, we hit for significantly less and don't have a bleed, we do have a head hit so a helm is required. If you KD the TKM you should own him, likewise if you go down your not gettting up.
So best bet is to use you longer lunge or warcry to delay the TKM's KD2 then odds are in your favor... I think, i always seem to come up with a way to beat the other melee classes.
I owned a TKM today he was retarded, KD2 i recoved because i'm not a button masses and proceded to warcy, heal KD2 dizzy and put a dent in his skull with the VK's on sinc he was down for the count. THis was a buffed TKM 1.2k mind and 2k+ primaries.
The point is, that i think i'm trying to make is that melee v melee combat is the closest thing to tactical combat i've experianced in this game and the playing field is nearly level, at least at master.
In my opinion master pikeman is a strong skill, but the way up is hell
IMO, it would depend how seasoned of a PvP he is.
I have been a master pikeman for 4 months now, and I dont use my Pike skills in pvp only unless I have the upper hand. (They are not focused on me, lol)
I have been a TKM for about 3 months now, I will use this always off or on the field. (PvP)
Since he might be new to PvP using melee you might stand a chance, but I will not use my PKM against another TKM, I will lose most likely 3/10, I also PvP ALOT!
I have said it multiple times on this board but just to reiterate my point as to how Pikeman is compared to the other melee classes, after this patch if there isn't or has not been a planned change I will be dropping my pikeman skill once and for all.
To be honest I only use pike hit 3 when I can, thats it and its not often.
As Antares stated a warcry followed by some kind of attack that KD him will be your best shot. I would suggest a warcry2, pray it kicks in then use polearmlunge2[range7] to KD him from a greater range than he is able to hit you from (this is taken you areskilled enoughto stay out of his constant spam of UnarmedKD2[range4]). I find that a hit with actionhit2 followed by a spam of leghits until he gets up is a good start, then run outta his range and /say something funny as you watch him incap and be ready for FINISH HIM! FATALITY! PikeMan WINS!
yah, this is of course given you can hit him and good luck with that ![]()
the problem with TKA vs Pike is mostly defenses....TKA has +30 melee defense and +56 toughness...master pike has +15 melee defense and +26 toughness...
You will miss him 50% of the time....and when you do hit him it will be for less damage than he hits you for each hit.
they can dizzy and knock you down too fast for you to get the two moves off required for a pikeman to dizzy and knockdown......and if you do a master TKA has so much KD defense and Anti-dizzy(combat equalibrium) they will hop right back up....
when they knock you down they will do X2 damage or so....plus the X4 on their unarmed hit 3....
Unfortunatly the master tka would have to be a real tard or you would have to be REALLY awesome to win with anything other than dumb luck....
sorry![]()
