Thread: CARBINEERS AND PIKEMEN UNITE! FIX OUR GODDAMN HAM!!!
I am **edit**ing tired of this, pikemen and carbineers have suffered long enough. Have you guys ever noticed we are the exact same, except were ranged and your melee (which makes your more broke then us Ill admit). We both have suffered from high HAM, no, ridiculous HAM costs since beta. We both have horrible DPSs than the other classes (you guys because of accuracy, us because of lack of speed mods). We both have horrible defences compared to the other classes. We both never get attention from the devs (a 40 page petition running for a month just got a generic answer).
I have some questions though.
1. Do you guys have a horrible "elite" weapon?
2. Do your weapons take large Krayt tissue requirments compared to other types of weapons?
3. Are half of your specials broken?
4. Do your weapons just simply suck compared to the other classes'?
To answer:
1. Actually, our elite weapon is pretty good. It hits "better" and does electric damage, with light armor piercing. So on that we can't complain (except for the accuracy).
2. Melee weapons don't use Krayt tissue. I guess this is bad CAUSE MELEE DOESN'T GET UPGRADES.
3. Broken? No. Useless? Yes. We have *4* area attacks. Spin attack I and II and Area attack I and II. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE??! There is none. We have no unique attacks, we don't get a blind OR dizzy attack, and get the MOST USELESS condition attack, stun.Our sweep is cool, but unless coupled with warcry lasts for a whole 1 round with REDICULOUS HAM costs. On that subject, ALL HAM costs are WAY to high for the damage done.
4. Yes, yes they do. I will admit that the speed and damage is actually not bad at all - my LVA is 4.3 170-430ish, and it gives out alot of hurt. However, the HAM costs and the
ACCURACY
is TERRIBLE. I was a fencer before, and I now realize the
SUCKAGE
that pikemen have.
To sum up my answer:
"If pikemen could hit their target consistently, our class would be alot easier to play."

1. our only 2 "elite" weapons are the LVA and VL, and both have horrid accuracy (negative at all ranges) and high HAM costs.
2. Melee weapons can't be made with krayt, but although in theory looted vibromotors CAN be used, a friend of mine gathered a few up and, upon contacting several master weaponsmith we were told they could not be used in LVAs or VLs, due to the identical factory made aspect.
3. We actually do get a dizzy with spin 2, but I regularly fight with e TKA guildmate and although we both hit his dizzies stick much more often than mine. I would guess I hit with spin2 and dizzy the target about half the time. We do have a bleed, which is nice, but many of our specials target action, which can be buffed and/or healed, nothing like sword or pistol mind hits. (I see this more as a healing problem than a hit problem.) Some of our specials, especially polearmhit2 and polearmhit3, have long animations and we cannot move or attack while the animation is going so running/kiting mobs just get further away.
4. Half? We only have 2. And as for broken, see above regarding accuracy.
I am happy with the occassional huge damage hits I get at master, and if nothing else I get a chuckle out of the comments I get at starports from people who say "omg how/why did you master pikeman?!", and accuracy and speed improve with master, but I lose miserably to other master elite combat professions, even other master melee profession swhen dueling and in terms of overall survivability.
You got a dev post in the carbineer forum? Did it say anything? Did it respond to "marksman" or actually "carbineer"? Our last dev post that was pikeman specific was a loooong time ago. And I love your sig, can we pikes adopt it too?
how much damage does a master pikeman do? i mean i'm a master heavy swordsman, and i have several times broken 10k, most recently being 13k on a mind attack to a storm commando. i recently looted a vibro lance off a nightsister, and was considering going pikeman, just to add to master skills.
the vibro lance after sliced, 34% damage does i think 421 or so max damage, which i guess is ok for a vibro lance, doesn't compare to my power hammers 580,but the reason i'm asking is cause i think this might be the most evil weapon in the game.it has a 96.5% wound rating, which is about 40 higher then i've ever seen.
so any feed back here would be nice ![]()
