Thread: Little Problem with a duel I had
Story begins:
I go on a Imperial base raid around noon, and afterwords I set my statues to covert and then log off. I head to coronet and I sit in line waiting for a buff (almost master I am 4423) so I could go hunting. Then a CM comes from the starport and poisons me. Luckily other rebels killed that guy (apparantly the covert fuction was bugged and I needed to have hit it twice so says a friend ofmine). Now I am trapped in coronet.....hopeing to make it to dant to level. Sadly, another imp arrives and starts to fight me. Now at first I am thinking ok I can handle this. I stack my bleeds, KD, and then hope the billion other rebels in coronet help me. Then combat begins.... but for some strange reason I can't hit him. I am thinking to myself, "Wow I am horrible!" This may be true......but thats not the point.
As I began fighting I learned 2 things a) yes this guy is a dizzy/kd master b) yes he is a master fencer+masterpistol. I fight him for a VERY long time yet I can't hit him......not even once. The only damage he takes are the HAM costs for his dizzy attack. FINALLY a master commando flames him after I had chased him for 10 minutes. Thenas I am leaving the starport 4 more imps come, surrond me, and kill me (no problem with that to be expected when ya fight 4 tka
. I clone then head to the cantina to heal up. I wasa little bored so I deicde I will count up my misses. The combat log is so long that if starts well after the combat actually began. I counted 78 misses in a row (there were 4 carbine misses in there because I was desperate) and thats not even all the combat so I bet it was at least 100. Now, is this supposed to happen? I bet i my weapon, and lack of accuracy mods didn't help and I am sure he was using Cob.....but I ask this.........how do I beat something I can't hit?
Unfortunately, this is something a lot of people have been asking, leading to talk to stopping the stacking of defenses, both primary (melee/ranged) and secondary (block/counterattack/dodge). Now...one of the most powerful of such defensive templates is tka/fencer/pistoleer. This particular set up is meant for maximizing dodge. However, by your combat log saying you "missed" instead of your target dodging, it seems you most likely ran into someone with melee defense near 200 or more. TKA/Fencer/Riflemen have this kind of setup.
Surely a few of those were missed because of your accuracy on your weapon, but that combined with the high melee defense this guy had made it so that the only other player who could have hit him just a few times is another TKA (they have huge accuracy bonuses).
Who knows what the devs will do to this type of defensive stacking. Dodge is almost certainly not going to stack anymore, and I think they might put some kind of cap or restriction on how much melee/ranged defenses you can stack...we'll have to wait and see, but for the time being, this is what you can expect when running into these kinds of skill sets.
