Thread: I feel for you guys
Hi there, im a BH on eclipse and honestly i feel for you guys. I just saw the DE-mock comic, didnt get it at first though ![]()
as a bh im always trying to support my friendly neighborhood droid engineer by buying arakyds and seekers, i even bought a r2 unit and a probot for fun!
Now, to the reason of my post, i have some questions.
1. Why on earth did they nerf the probot? I know, devs are cold and heartless creatures, but what was the official reason?I mean for gods sakes, even a bloody gurreck has better stats then a prenerf probot. Nevertheless i know 90% would probably use a probot over a gurreck any day.
2. Any word on when you are getting some love, and what kind of love youre getting? New droids? What kind of new droids?
3. Approx how many hours does it take to master Droid Engineer? Counting all factors(funds, resources... motivation)
Less pets, more droids!
Anyways, thanks in advance ![]()

They nerfed the probot because it was too strong. There are a couple things you have to remember with the probot. First off, it has (or can have) 40% medium armor. Even at its current 820HAM this equates out to more damage taken than any non-ch pet. At the prenerf stats that thing is an absolute beast (causing serious balance issues with any random character having an overpowered pet). Second, the probot is not a combat only droid. It has the ability to have 2 additional modules (ignoring the cluster bug/exploit), which can make it a fully functional med center/crafting station, item storage/crafting station, etc. The probot was nerfed, the probot needed to be nerfed, what makes the nerf look so bad though is the introduction of non-CH pets. If they hadn't done that people would be loving the probot (though right now it is arguably better than any non-CH pets anyway).

Only thing we've gotten is a vague post about a "Plan" which I wouldn't put much confidence in, then a post from JustG about the introduction of low and mid level combat droids in the january publish, the high level combat droids in the february publish. And, as always, the general "you're on the top of our list" posts.

completely depends on your play style. Me, 3-4 months or so of constantly working at it. The fastest is about 7 hours or so. overall it takes something like 1.5million resources, can't remember off the top of my head exactly. You've got to be either motivated, patient, obsessed with droids, or working on your holo to get to master.
Less pets, more droids!
Couldn't agree more
I thought the thing about prenerf probots was that they had light armour? ![]()
Im not entirely sure on this, but some guywas selling one, i think it had 3.2k ham and something like 15% in all resistances and light armour and something like 150-1xx attack damage. Again, im not sure on this.
Thanks for the answers though, hope that you guys get some love soon after all.
From how I remember it, armor modules didn't even work on the old Probots. That didn't much matter though, because of the HAM and damage increase it had at the time.
Now, for the story on how I remember it as far as why they did it....see, at the time, there were no"non-CH" pets. Animals were CH-only. The Devs came to us and said they were going to nerf the probot as a "temporary band-aid" fix. Y'see, in their arguement, the only limitation on using one was the credits it took to purchase it. It took no skill, and thus any newbie could use it and unbalance their combat capabilities. Thus, they thought to lower its effectiveness until they could put in a Cert system which would keep the powerful droids out of newbie hands.
Well, we all know what happened. Soon after, they introduced non-CH pets. Up to CL15 to be specific. Why? Well, in their eyes, they needed to do that to allow anyone access to Mounts. But then, everyone saw how powerful non-CH pets could be in combat, and the universe heard from the DE community a huge, resounding "W-T-F?!" Riddle me this Bounty Hunter.....why would the Developers nerf down a droid because it was too powerful and everyone could use it, then soon after allow anyone to use a CL15 Creature Handler pet that had the same-or-greater HAM and damage output of the aforementioned pre-nerf Probot? Yeah, beats us too, and we've never gotten an official explanation on it. Neither have we gotten a time frame on when they'll ever introduce the Cert system and give us decent combat droids.
