Pikeman Archive

Well, for some reason I was possessed to go through the Geonosian Caves today. Pikeman is my only combat profession (it's mastered though) and the last time I tried to do the Geo caves solo I ran into the first two Enhanced Kwis and died before I even got one down to half health.

So I go back and find that I can very easily solo both kwis. Both go down and I still have around 1/2 my HAM left. Perplexed, I figure it was just because I kept Intimidate on both of them, thus lowering the damage they deal to me. I continue through the Caves, my 500 max damage vibro lance cutting through Droidekas like a hot knife through butter and my 800 max damage LVA taking care of everything else. As I'm fighting I'm noticing my HAM is barely dropping during these fights. I start paying closer attention to my combat tab and, to my surprise, see that I'm blocking nearly 65% of everything thrown at me [rough approximation]. I make it all the way to the acklay room and my health never went below 1/2 (although it hovered there a few times).

I don't have any medic skills and as I said, Pikeman is the only combat class I have (unless you feel like counting the +7 Melee/Ranged Defense in Master Musician).

I talked to a fellow pikeman on the server and he agrees that block seems to be connecting more often.

My Block skill isn't enhanced in any way. It's at the basic 115 you get through mastering pikeman.

Has anyone else noticed a change or were the gods just favorable this day?

are you using /center, or a /center macro?

Something is up. I have always wondered why block didn't kick in more often. Now I am working on getting some rifle skills for range(which also adds block) and I have noticed that I am blocking quite a bit more than before.

Am I correct that when you successfully block, you only take 1/2 damage?

I was using a center macro, but I've always used a center macro. So that shouldn't affect anything, unless they made Center of Being better...

They're taking away recursive macros, and with that they're enhancing CoB a bit (from what I was told at least, haven't seen it in any of the director's notes mysefl), so maybe in pub10 they already pushed forward making CoB more effective. I've got +15 in block for attachments and with the +115 with master pikeman it blocks at least 80% of the time, too bad its only half damage.
