Thread: Pikeman gets the DOT nerf...here comes ultra-CM!

I always supported DOT's in SWG...but I would only respect them if the character using them was a MASTER with the weapon he was using. That was the main DOT problem, it should of been a master level activation on weapons.


Now Pikeman are getting the biggest NERF on DOT's. I can respect the CU balance and its only fair for thing to be put right. I am not happy that I am losing millions upon millions of credits for the pikes/lances/etc. I purchased. But I do support a good change.


But I have to complain. After talking with TC friends and reading the forums, it looks like now more then ever, CM will be the new DOT wh*re class everyone is going to try and pick up. Hasn't SOE learned when you give an inch in this game, players take a mile! I hope this is early testing on TC for CM.


Trust me, if things are not adjusted, watch how many NEW combat medics pop up all over the place next month. What fun will pikeman be as crowd controling tanks, when long range attacks and CM wh*res waste us? Wasn't this a problem before?

a.) You will not be hit with a 800+ tick poison after the CU. CM poisons will be far weaker than they are now. Being a CM will not mean instant win anymore.

b.) DOTs can go choke themselves for all I care. I hated them.. even after I got a few good ones I rarely used them. I'm much more pleased I will now be able to do respectable damage to a Fencer with my pike itself, and not being forced to rely on the DOT on my pike.

The only reason DoTs were added to pikes more than anything else was because they only had 2 damage types, kinetic and electricity. Comp armour had 80% to both of these. Fencer only had two, but you had acklay batons, same with swordsman, acklay hammers. Getting a acklay hammer didnt mean you had to kill COUNTLESS ns in the hope to get a high damage pike. I wasnt a Geno expert by any means, but based on the amount of acklay weapons around now id say it was much easier to get acklay than a high damage pike.

I always forget to add stuff lol. It was all about damage before, who can do the most damage, who can do the most damage quickest. After the cu its about teamwork, strategy and fun. For example; CMs have skills that can slow players down, or slow down their regen rates, which means you can work as a team and kill someone quicker. Not; spam as many mind hits as quick as possible like it was postCU.

Also, anyone in the current system who wants to be a true DOT whore goes CM anyway. Pikeman DOTs just don't have the power of CM area poisons/diseases, especially if Spider Venom is involved (and it is.. frequently). Come to my server with a pvp group that gets wasted because one CM throws one Mind Area Poison pack that causes everyone in 15m radius to tick for over 900.

Furthermore, Pikemen are not somehow a "counter" to CM poisons by virtue of having DOTs. We're losing all of our DOTs, does that mean that CM poisons are getting stronger because of that? Of course not. That makes no sense.

Recap: I'm confused why you think there's a link between us losing our DOT weapons and CMs becoming a FOTM profession.

What I was trying to get across was you will see alot of players add CM to their templates or see NEW CM's when the CU hits. I was just ranting after hearing how CM's on TC have been very formidable in PvP with the new system. You know how players love the FOTM.

I spent hours and hours at NS and millions and millions of credits on My dots, I am master and i have been for ages, all i can say is 31 touchness at master Pikeman / master Brawler, Block........:/


I do try to keep off the DoTs but if a player isnt getting hit for 100+ through armor i usuallly end up switching


CM's just owned me with fires,diseases,poisons and root

now how does any one compete with Medic / M Pistoleer /M CM.......really. im sure all the whinign in the 1st place which may have led to the CURB was due to CM's aswell

If you have a bit of doc in your template, CMs are the least of the problems. My TKM/cm 4004/doc 3000 friend has some really high ticking dots, if he uses 3 of these different poisons... say good bye to your mind. On the other hand, im m pikes, doc 3440, novice fencer, and I can cure everything he hits at me.

She's talking about post-CU.. as in, no more uber mind area poisons.

True but just because its "Acklay" doesn't mean its "good".

...? So? my point was that pikes had no way to enhance their weapons, nothing as good as other weapons.

Ah, well then I missunderstood and I apologize. I thought you were ranting that every other profession could be "uber" much easier.

If anything, CM/Pike is a good combo now - throw on a light action DoT and continue with the leghit3 shots to drain that action bar.
