I dont like asking many other forums, because all I ever get is a bunch offlaming replies. I realise I dont always post the best responses ever but I am working on it.
I heard from a guild member that went to Fan Fest and talked to the Crafting developer about the armor changes a little. Not really on the armor crafting, but what happens to the current armor in the game.
Currently they are on the fence about nerfing everything or letting it decay out. they are at 70% keeping it in letting the current stuff decayand 30% nerfing everything. If they let it decay out, a lot of armorsmiths have stockpiles of 100's of suits of armor in storage and I can see armor selling for ridiculous amounts of cash for a pre-nerf suit of composite. Plus, we wont see the efffects of this armor nerf for about 4 months once all the armor is gone. Armorsmiths will become multi billionares while everyone is running missions to buy these suits of armor for 2-3 million a suit.
I am 100% on the side of nerfing all existing armor and newly crafted stuff.
What is your opinion?

Devs develop, programes code....if you was a coder, would you be looking on the database for every armour with all kind of diferent stats and nerf those 1 by 1? i woundnt

Looks like there will be no pre-nerf composite sales.

It's really a pretty trivial change to make. In a simplest case scenario where they rescale the armor resists and nothing else you could just make a formula like: new resist = old resist * (new max resist/old max resist). Loop it through the item database and your nerf is complete.
An even simpler method would be to leave resists as they are but create more significant vulnerabilities where they don't currently exist. Give composite armor a vulnerability to kinetic, acid, and heat in addition to stun and it's no longer the overpowering PvP armor it currently is, even if you leave all the resists the same. Plus if you mix the vulnerabilies up a bit the other damage types will become a lot more meaningful, otherwise you're still stuck with everyone wearing composite and stun being the only meaningful damage type. This would be an especially easy move to make, just wipe out all the resists for certain damage types and armors.
Regardless, I certainly hope they retroactively nerf armor. Allowing hoardes of pre-nerf armor would be fair neither to consumers nor to post-nerf armorsmiths. It would also make armor even more unbalancing than it currently is, which I assume the devs would prefer to avoid.

Good times.
Anyone know if it's just composite that's getting the nerfbat? Crossing my fingers that my padded, mabari, and ubese might make it through... ![]()
