Gunman,

You've always been a fantastic correspondent for the pikeman community and I've felt well represented by you. I was troubled by something just recently and I wanted to voice my concern.

With the announcement of the delay for the combat revamp, someone else (Rahzael) stepped up and asked for input on what everyone thought would be good suggestions to help our profession between now and after JTL. You posted in that thread saying you already asked for a few things and communicated our needs.

I'm disappointed that you didn't solicit the community for input. I'm also disappointed that it seems what you asked for isn't necessarily what people seem to want.

This isn't an attack on you and as I said before, I think you've done a great job representing us. (and if I missed the post where you asked for input, I apologize). I believe that Pikeman need a strong voice with the devs to represent us and help our profession become all that it can. Sometimes you may need to put forward ideas that you, personally, may not agree with but that the community is asking for; because you represent us.

Anyway, it's just a concern that I wanted to share. I wish for the Gunman of old who was out there fighting the good fight for us to make our profession better.

Please step up and do what's needed. We need you out there, man.

Best!

Well, I kind of did solicit community concerns...The list of current pikeman issues is what the community has put forth as what we need fixed. So, I took that list, added in a few of my posts (IE asking what the community thought about the dots) and looked it all over.

We were asked for things that would be very simple to fix. So, block, even though it's a top concern in the community, gets thrown out as a possible pre-revamp change because they've said fixing block would be complicated and time consuming. (Don't worry, block will get a pass with the revamp)

Fixing the skill tape issue would also be complicated so that has to wait as well. (I know this is a very low-priority issue but I'm just using this as an example)

The things I gave them are, as I understand it, easier fixes and would be more prone to getting fixed. I think all of them would help out our profession and they've all had community support. (I did a thread on the dot issue and the majority said they wanted them nerfed/reduced)

This baffles me, to be honest. To fix block in the short term all it takes is to change it so no damage is taken. This could be as simple as copying the code that's used in dodge and counterattack.

We don't need block fixed in the sense they want (i.e. still allowing damage) right now, we need a quick band-aid to hold us over until the revamp happens. If they can balance it the way they want when the revamp hits, fine, but right now all it needs is to not give us damage. What could be easier?

That being said, I think Gunman has done a great job in representing us. Unfortunately, I think the devs have done a lousy job at actually listening to any of the correspondents and acting based on their feedback.

I appreciate the reply, Gun. It's good to see we're moving forward.

I can sort of understand not being able to get block changed in the short-term as it runs the risk of creating an even greater imbalancein the game since we're not the only ones who use block.

I really like the request you put in on having the spawn rate increased NSEL lance but I'm not sure that it will make the weapon any more obtainable (to all dedicated pikeman) and I'm also not sure that contributes to the combat revamp (just helps out pikeman).

When I heard about the "short-term" fixes, I really thought it was a perfect opportunity for topush HARDto get an other AP2 weapon (not change current APs) because it seems like the devs have been able to make that happen in the past with massive amounts of time.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the days to come.

BPM, the issues Gunman addressed I'm sure, are the same issues that have been around forever. Our list of things that are wrong have not changed much from one year ago. We keep complaining of the same issues month after month.

I'm pretty sure that Gunman, having been here since the beginning, is well aware of what those issues are.
