Just hit Pikeman 3, I'm thinking about going Pikeman instead of creature handler for hunting, to compliment my Rifleman, but I notice that even Master Pikemen use this. So, can I assume that this is the best all around pike one can get? NS lances have DOTS but they really arenot that great, IMO. Thanks for any feedback.

Yes they are AP2 kenetic damg accuracy is horrible though so make sure you pick up some accuracy skill tapes or AA
They are good for PvE and thos MOB's with high kenetic res you can use your VL electric damg AP1. I think you will find yourself using your rifles more than anything else though. Don't use your LVA to grind with untill you have a decent amount of the accuracy line or you won't hit anything lol.

Because of the greater damage AND the better armor piercing, the LVA will outdamage the VL even in most high-level situations where a mob with medium or heavy armor has high kinetic and low electricity resists. The VL is not often the better choice. /shrug. But at your pre-pike level, the accuracy and speed will be painful.

ahhhh.... I learn something new everyday.... could this explain why a tka seems to deal more damage to a SBD than I do with my VL... I always use it on the corvette/DWB because the droids are 35% to electric but if I am slower and not hitting anything then should I go back to theScytheso that I will at least hit something? or at least until I loot that legendary VL (never going to happen)
And if that is the case why would I ever want to use the VL...
hmmm... just some thoughts and doubts that are running through my mind.... thanks for any advice

A rough comparison:
Tka using a VK and pikeman using an VL, both have light AP. If I remember correctly the SBDs have medium armor, 85% kinetic resists and as you say 35% lightning resists.
- TKA damage basic say3000 per second, halved because of light armor penetration vs medium armor. Multiply by 0.15 (85% damage absorbed by resist) --> 3000*0.5*0.15 = 225 damage per second.
- Pikeman damage using a 130-380 damage Vibro Lance which has a weaponspeed of 3.8 seconds, 75 polearmspeed. This equates to 967-2827 every 2.85 secondsusing polearm hit3 (thanks to annelid0 for the dps calc). This amounts to 216 damage per second assuming you hit all your attacks. I personally don't see too many misses in my combat log when fighting mobs like NS elders and protectors.(A LVA that has 4.4s attack speed and 130-460 damage amounts to 99 dps)
As you see the damage output isn't too different 
I'm estimating the scythe damage output will be near 200 aswell (Using the same average damage as the LVA but twice as fast). I don't have that swordman dps calculator at hand so, could be mistaken.
