Thread: Thinking of becoming a Pikeman.

Ok I love my carbine and will primarly use it. I've seen the pikeman combos and specials and they seem to affect the action pool like the carbine does. What do you pikeman think? I won't have enough to go master pikeman but I'll be able to dabble with it.


Use my carbine and switch to my polearm skills when the beast get's close. . . what do you think?

It really depends on how many skill points you have to spend. If you're only going up to novice pikeman then don't bother, cause it's not worth it. If you have more to spend then I'd reccommend getting the first 2 support skills and the frist 2 stances skills. That's about the minimum I'd recommend. If you're not gonna master then don't bother with the offense tree....it's pretty pathetic.

is it pathetic by design or is it just broke like everything else in this game. At the rate I play by the time I reach novice pikeman then it'll probably be fixed cause I advance at a casual rate and I'm starting from SCRATCH tonight because I just made this decison and will have to dump skills.

Also assume I'll have enough skill points to get 2 maybe 3 FULL disciplines in the pikeman line. Then what would you recommend?

I won't need support as I will have bleed attacks from the carbine line. Just overall action attacks will suffice.

we have knockdown. We actually have a good one. Mine does about 700 damage while i knock them down. and that is just sweep . i belive we still get sweep 2. and we have an area sweeping atttack. so we knockdown lotsa thing, but i don't know if we hurt them that bad when we do. Wehave alot of area attacks.


But don't plan on hitting anything when it is knocked down. Maybe you can later but not torwards the begining. We just don't seem to be fast enuff.

just so you know atimes you NEED support skills to be an effectice pikeman otherwise you will have a hard time hitting anything with a vibro lance let alone a long vibro axe.


as for what skill lines to master i would recomend stances for the speed and defensive for the sweeps. as stated above the offence line is almost useless except maybe for the leg hits.

Thanks Makarish. I was wondering about the support line. The only problem is it works off of combat XP which a line in Carbineer uses also. . .twice the work ugh.


There may be no way around it though. We'll see as I advance.


Basically I want some melee skills to go with my ranged skills, and since the polearm is the melee equivalent of the Carbine. . . there you go.

yeah but i guess you also have the option of sticking to useing a lance if you cant stand how much you miss. i for managed to get my lance buged when i first equiped my VL so it kinda went poof and i havent been able to find another lance since. guess what i need to do is find a good weaponsmith and get them to custom build one for me.


also in case your wondering a well crafted lance can almost match a vibro lance in base dammage but is lacking the armor pierceing 1 that a VL has.

I think being a pikeman id great; just at novice pikeman I'm going at least 2000 damage with my long vibro axe. Also of all the time I send playing the game I see people that have taken on being a markmen or something in that area taking 2 more 3 times the amount of damage I would; so by having a carbine gun you can take out the far away targets and if that same target runs at you just wep out your lance and finish him in a melee battle.
