ARGH! I'm already a novice pikeman half way up my profession, and I almost got incapped by night spiders... why? I way surrounded and I did spin attacks... it'd hit some of them, some of the time... but I kept missing, next thing I knew I was almost completely out of health HAM (my highest bar). This is BS. Freakin' fix the block bug, give us defense bonuses, fix our accuracy, SOMETHING PLEASE ARGH!!!!

Lol, I feel your pain. I'm a novice Pikeman and I got incapped by Womp Rats. Womp Rats! Not the big ugly mutant kind but the lesser kind. Argh...I missed 8 times in a row. Did I mention they were lesser womp rats? I was so frustrated.

Yes, I have missed like no tomorrow, but you guys talk like you don't use stim packs. I'm a Pikeman/Chef/Medic. I can use stim c's healing for 300-700 a pop. I also use Tatooine Sunburns that give +1600 Strength +1600 Stamina greatly reducing the HAM cost of specials and giving insane Action pool regen. I recommend you mitigate your damage with at least one of these options. Find a chef in your galaxy and get you some Sunburns. It will greatly improve your efficiency. I find it very difficult to understand why any combat class wouldn't at least pay the 15 points to get medic and just use Stim B's. Stim B's with advanced components can very easily hit the 30 Charge 285 Heal mark. Just a little friendly advice.

Just a little evidence to pass some loving to my fellow Chefs along with some suggestions:

I am nearly a master artisan. And while I have no intention of keeping all the boxes I have, I am making use of them while I do. I smithed a Reinforced Combat Staff and a Wood Staff to decrease delay and pump up the range modifier. My Wood Staff has a delay of 4.3 with a +17 Range Modifier, meaning I nearly always hit. I intend to get it sliced to lower the delay. I also make melee powerups to reduce delay and increase my range modifier. These weapons exist for one purpose only, to put the mob square on his ass. Once he is there I switch to either my LVA or VL depending on my mood. Before combat I drink a Tatooine Sunburn and I am able to maintain this cycle until the mob is dead, ending the combat at full HAM.

In a nutshell:

Drink Tatooine Sunburn

Use Wood Staff or Reinforced Combat Staff with Sweep to knockdown

Switch to favorite weapon and use LegHit twice

Switch back to Wood Staff for Sweep

Back to favorite weapon and use LegHittwice

Rinse and repeat til mob is dead

-Note might be useful to use one leghit and one stun but I am still not conviced of the effectives of stun.

Using this method I am able to fightGreater Desert Womp Rats with ease. The fights are longer than I like but whenI get Staces II I am surethe duration will drop significately.

Don't use weapons that have the high negative accuracy or to-hit stats. When you get cert to use the Vibro weapons, DO NOT get rid of your others. I have a Vibro lance that misses A LOT so I have my reinforced staff and the vibro on hot keys. Switch between the two when you see you are missing or in this particular case, you are fighting mobs that you can take down quickly as long as your weapon hits. Use the reinforced staff instead of the vibro.

The other advantage to using older weaps is the lower HAM costs too. When I fight big MOBS I use the reinforced staff to knockdown, then switch to vibro to hit heavy, then back to reinforced...rinse repeat. You'll find you use a lot less HAM and you still get the benefit of the higher damage weapons (and again the reinforced staff rarely misses.)

Mmmm...I have been reading lately some of these writings about the ill manner of pikeman fighting abilities, and as suggested by another player either you have no other skills trained, your weapon is just terrible, or you as a player just aren't that good. (I am not insisting on any of these for a particular individual)

I have Pistoleer. (For health shot 2)

Master unarmed for additive defense/offense stats.

I also am a novice smuggler, which thier is no bonus for melee, except they have skills to assisst any "trigger happy enemy" in the way.

As a pikeman I do very well,I just skilled up to "sweep1" now having that and support abilities, and yes also assaid earlier, I haven't seen this move cripple my enemies in any way, now I am doing very good...infact I am pulled even more to this game. Just plain and simple, as an apprentice pikeman, I rock.

Weapon: (whatsavailable) Lance 3.6 56-226 Chance to hit 26. (not so bad if I say so myself)

Armor: None

Clothies: 2 pieces with skill slots full. both +2 accuracy.

I feel your pain..I Think many of us do. the only thing we have going is that we hit for alot... but not much more than the other melee classes, and not enough to just totally to give us the worst of everything else. Now excuse me I must go back to my crying in a little ball.
