Thread: What about an offensive pikeman..?
How come no one has given the idea of breaking up the pikeman class. I've trained in martial arts for years one of my specialties being the Bo. Now I have seen pike's weilded (sorry sp) in both offensive and defensive manners. And when someone is on the offensive it is a blazing fast weapon...yet we have some of the slowest speeds in the game...ie. Look at Darth Maul...how fast did he attack using both sides of the 'light staff'.... pretty &$^% fast !!
I was wondering if anyone else thinks that it would be nice to have an offensive pikeman instead of a defensive one... I'm not to far from Master Pikeman and so far I'm pleased with the out come despite all the flaws that have been mentioned here in the forum. But I feel like the real flash and awe that should be seen when you've spent so much time developing your character isn't there...
Sorry if this seems like a rant guys...I see potential for pikeman to be a force..and they should be....but currently the only thing we're really good for is knockdown. ...And thats with a healer keepiing us alive....till our mind runs out...lol.
Well hope you don't throttle me too bad for this and interested in hearing some opinions....

Ah... Darth Maul's 'light staff' was actually a "double lightsaber" and lightsabers have practically no weight. only the handle has weight, so swining one would be at a rate that is too fast to calculate, vs a regular sword's swing.
Also, the devs seemed to take a more offensive look at the pikeman class, and like OpethRebel said, the toughness is lower, and the damage is higher.

Im 5k away from master pikeman, and thinking of going up the TKA tree next. Im wondering if i go up the TKA tree that gives me their Defense Technique's, if they were a general technique. (ie. Defense Vs. Knockdown) Will i have +50 to Defense Vs. Knockdown or will i have +20 in pike and +30 or whatever TKA get for TKA? I think it would be very wise if they are a general Defense Vs. whatever rather then for that skill to climb that tree.
I was going to go to expert defense TKA and expert med along with master pikeman, whatcha think?

I think this is a good idea actualy..... devs have been talking about adding elite-elite professions, so im thinking why not once u get master of offencive or defencive skill trees u can go into another 'tree' of just offenceive or just defencive depending on which branch of regular pikemen u finished. I think this can be done with most all melee skills, exsept for maybe TKA (i cant imagine having them hit faster from the offenciveTKA tree :/)i can see it now, my master brawler -master pikemen -master offencive pikemen, character
