Hello all

I'm a master pikeman and wondering if the pikeman modifiers given by master brawler are worth the effort. Please let me know your thoughts on this.

That is a great question. Contiplating on doing this myself. If so, would have to drop CH and possibly some other skills. Is it worth the work and points or would skill tapes just be more of sub?

Inkui who is master pike is doing this on Eclipse and am sure he has an opinion on it too.

Let us know pikes!

Do you think Master Pikeman is worth it?

Not saying I'm having second thoughts, just asking if you were to do it all over again would you and why.

Yeah, I was going to do this, and still am, just have had it on the back burner. Jumped on medic and then was playing with low level doctor, so I haven't gotten master brawler yet, but haven't tried, but lunge2 will be essential in dueling a fencer cuz at the moment, fencers **edit** everybody up in PvP, which is why I at the moment have my build set on master fencer / master pikeman / master brawler, so I've been starting to work at getting fencer. One can easily get master brawler in a day if they just sit down at good NPCs and have novice medic, which is probably what I will do this weekend. As far as the little modifications you get (+5s to speed and accuracy), I don't see them helping that much, though are accuracy is still **edit**ed up (missed 5 out of 12 times against a giant baz nitch), but the main reason I am getting master brawler is for fighting fencers til I get a strong fencer skills.

I hope all of that made sense, because I just typed it up while listening to 6 people talking around me and couldn't hear myself think.

Yes, I like Master Pikeman a lot. Though we at the moment are probably the best PvM melee fighter, and possibly the worst PvP fighter (which sucks cuz I love PvP). I would do it all over again, because I chose Pikeman because I liked it for what it was and that it would be neat, never chose it to be the best fighter, and am somewhat disappointed that it isn't like a real Pikeman as far as being the strongest defensively, etc. But yes, I would do it again.

Inuki,

Hey there. If you were to not to go with fencer, would you still work at getting master brawler? My reason for master brawler would only be for the pts it gives and not for anyelite profession. Would you still do it?

In that case, I probably wouldn't. I mainly want to get it for lunge2.

The stats in Master Brawler are nice, but it's not worth doing just for the stats. The skills are what really matter.

You can't realistically PVP without Lunge2.

Intimidate2 is the best defensive skill in the game after knockdown.

Berserk2 used to be nice for straight damage dealing, now it's a joke post patch.

Warcry2 is ok, it doesn't work consistently enough to really be worth using on a regular basis IMO compared to knockdown/intimidate.

Master Pikeman is definitely worth getting. Polearmhit3 is godly (huge damage, stun, and posture down). The stats are also awesome. Pikeman is not a good tree to half-@ss. Either go all the way or don't waste your time. Do TKA if you want to spend limited skill points in an elite brawling tree.

I'm just curious as to why you say you can't realisticly do PVP without lunge2. I haven't done a ton of PVP, but I did some sparring with a friend yesterday to try some things out. With master stances and a 3.0 speed lance I can easily get a knockdown in after a lunge, before the victimhas any chance torun away. I told him to make sure he tried to keep running after I lunged him too. Doesn't lunge1+sweep accomplish the same thing if you're fast enough?

I ask because I'm probably going to go for fencer orchef once Ifinish pikeman. I'd like toto save skill points for basic medic and scout skills while maintaining some PVP usefulness for the war.
