Thread: How bad are your HAM costs

I'veheard that pikeman is burdened with insane HAM costs. Can someone quantify it for me?


Say like youhit3something, how big of a negative number flies up offof you? Also what are your secondary stats, because that makes a big difference.

Well, our best weapon typically has HAM costs of about 85/75/45 or so...
polearmhit3 has a HAM mods of 2.0/1.5/1.5, which would make the cost 350, then modified by your strength/quickness/focus of course.

The minimum human strength/quickness/focus values of 400 each would make the total HAM cost in this context be 230, if I'm calculating the HAM correctly. I believe it's ( (weapon mod) * (special mod) ) - (stat / 10). (the only data I could find after a long search through the forum and it seems in line more or less with my experience)

Yes, they are very high. There was a recent post by a former master carbineer who said pikeman specials cost more than carbineer.

speaking of HAM costs... the current bug is making my character hard to play with the doubling of encumbrances and everything...

with max s/q/f for my char (rodian) my specials cost up to 212.

i get buffed. my ham dosnt decrease at all, and im a special spammer


if something doesnt work, find a way around it.

lol OpethRebel now I am intrigued, if they revamp the system itll be interesting

my HAM costs are 180-250 a move for the asking parties

Pikeman is so much fun with CH/Medic but I would love not to rely on stims and a graul mauler

yeah mostly in a fight I have to heal myself not from getting hit by the creature, but because of the damage I'm causing to MYSELF!


although some of the specials are pretty cool and I use them quite often, I wish the costs were lower.

Yeah, HAM costs are annoying (practically debilitating)and the devsrealize it and would like to see the systemchange.


...hmm, if there were any confidential information about that, I wouldn't be able to release it though. You know: if the HAM cost system were beingoverhauled to make it more functional and enjoyable rather than arduousfor everyone. Not that I could or would say anything official about that...

By the way OpethRebel, I've heard that the devs are responding to all the Corespondants' top 5 right now. Any word or idea on when you will be able to let us know what is happening?
