Hello Pikeman!

I'm currently a master weaponsmith with some rudimetary rifle skills, but frankly it's getting boring, and being a wookiee with no armour usually means holding a rifle is asking for death.

I'm looking to switch out my entire marksman line and a handful of rifle boxes into something else. The idea of Pikeman attracts me but I would like to ask your opinions on the profession. I'm not really out to become some killing machine - I just thought that defensive versus melee (seeing as most things that chew my face) is more prudent. Being able to forget the entire Ranged Support line and invest in more more boxes of pikeman would give me a bit of a leg up there, but would appreciate any feedback e.g. if I could advance only 5 boxes in Pikeman b eyond Novice, what should they be? Is it worth dabbling in Pikeman or is it an all or nothing deal?

I don't think any melee profession is worth dabbling in, unless you dabble all 4 of the elite defensive lines to get insane melee/ranged defense.

You would probably benefit more from the TKA line, you get more toughness in that line so that would be the most defensive, if you are looking for a good mix of defense and offense I am not sure which would be best, maybe twohanded.

Pistoleers get good melee defence bonuses. I hear that you are thinking "melee", but trust me. I am a wookiee and as a pikeman have had my fair share of trouble not having armor and taking all the blows. Pikeman isn't a good class to dabble in. Maybe master brawler and then a little pikeman....MAYBE
