There is a huge change once you master pike. Your speed and accuracy jump considerably. Mobs miss alot more often and go down alot faster. One of the problems with pike is they save the best stat mods for the very last so you can't really enjoy your class until you master it. Right now, no, pikeman cannot compete with TKA, but once you make master, you may decide that waiting for the fixes are not out of the question. I believe that one day our range, accuracy and defense ability will be corrected, and we will be the most powerfull, coolest looking and respected melee profession in the game. And if not, at least we will still look cool, before the incapitation.

I am really new to Pikeman and this is my first post. I only went pikeman due to my holocron telling me to master it. It is really tough to go from Master pistoleer to the constant misses of the Pikeman, but I am enduring the hardships in hopes that the class will be better along the way. I read this post and had to reply.

As a new pikeman and reading some of the post in the forum on how to best use the Pikeman I decide to test every aspect of the class that is available to me at the moment. So far I only have Intermediate polearm defense and I am doing ok when I hit.

My special recipe for combat consist of using my GSP or Graul to tank for me so I dont get hit and only have to worry about my HAM cost using my LVA. I then use Warcry for the 10 sec pause that it gives. I have noticed that when warcry effects my target I hit more often so then I do polearm sweep followed by polearm hit 2. This usually works on most squills and takes half their life in one series. On top of that I get about 3k polearm xp so I dont expect to be just novice for long.

It is good to know that further up the pikeman ladder I will not have to rely on my pet so much and will be more efficient as a group player.

By the way I think as a pikeman it is almost a requirement to have some sort of medic skills to heal yourself with the HAM cost of starting Pikeman.

This is just a tip to all those starting pikeman and looking forward to Mastering it this will help you alot.

Send mea tell if your on the Eclipse server to Sunshin I am always glad to help.

If anyone has one of those Night sister drop polearms and is looking to sell it let me know I will buy it. I have killed at least 10 and their stupid rancors but have got nothing more than creds which i dont need.

I don't know about most powerful, but at least comperable to the other melee professions. We shouldn't have the speed of a TKA or Fencer, but we should most definitely have more power. Common sense...polearms are heavy and cumbersome (hence a possible reason for our suicidal HAM costs). But yes, I have to say that Pikeman is the coolest looking melee class. I really haven't seen a Fencer in action, though. Let's just hope things get fixed so we can do more than 8 specials without needing a medic or medic skills.
