Im Japanese and all, but how the hell does a Haiku work?...........I was never in touch withpoetry

Haiku are a rigidly structured form of Japanese poetry. They follow an exact structure of:
5 syllables
7 syllables
5 syllables
The challenge is to convey your message in only 17 syllables. I find them fun to write.
