Heya fellas and gals! I have been wanting to try the Pikeman prof for a VERY long time, but I keep hearing negative things, like everything is broken. I don't think some "broken-ness" will keep me from the prof. Could you nice folks tell me what isn't working at this point please? Also, how fast is a master Pikeman. As you can see, I'm a master TK right now, so I am used to fast. I realize that Pikeman are slower, but just wanted more info. Thank you all!

Hmmmm.
- Block only absorbs 50% damage you still get hit with the other half.
- Our master hit 3 special move is only 3x modifier instead of the 4x of other professions.
- Even with new weapons our accuracy sucks.
- Our toughness is crap.
- Our defenses are too low compared to other melee classes.
- Our highest dps move is attained in the brawler tree.
- We have the lowest dps of all the melee classes.
- Damage mitigation severely cripples us.
Is this enough or do you want more??
Your speed will never be as high as a TKA. If you like TK and enjoy that style of fighting stick with it. Pikeman is not the rose covered path that TK is. You need a set of spaldings to master this profession.

It think the thing that separates a broken-pikeman from a severly-broken-pikeman is that the broken-pikeman is the one who learns how to use buffs, foods, spices, armor, anda lil thinking to get them through any situation
Spamming specials with your pike WILL get u killed...

the effects are nice... IF they hit...heh... i looted a wooden staff with something liek a +6 to polearm accuracy and a +6 to intimidation... and good pluses on the range modifiers.... So.. if i want to Apply states/kd I'll usually switch to this staff then switch back to my damage weapons...

Ok, so I started Pikeman and I am already 0/1/1/3 (thanks to having a huge bank of combat xp saved). So far, the accuracy seems a little off, and /leghit2 seems to be useless, doing less damage then 1. I see no difference between the accuracy of the pikeman knockdown 1 and the TK knockdown 1. The damage amounts are all over the board though. Doing the same attack (in my case hit2) I can have a variance of around 800 damage points. That's insane. Just plain insane. They really need to fix that.
So far I love it. Of course like a lot of things in this game, it does need some Dev love (more so then about 80% of the profs). I have noticed the trend of SOE though. When they fix a prof (ie Chef/BE) they fix it well adding a lot of content. I can't wait to be a master!
1 question though, do the effects generated by the higher end area attacks work, and how often?
Proud to be a Pikeman,
