Thread: A new pikeman. Read before you judge.

Hey all. I was really bummed out yesterday.I just couldn't decide on what prof I wanted to pursue. I've tried nearly everything, and nothing really was fun to me. I could honestly care less if something is less combat effective, as long as it's fun. So, on a whim yesterday, i decided to try pikes. It's one of the handful of profs I haven't tried. Now, I assumed pikes would suck. Slow, heavy, etc. But a strange thing happened.....
I loved it.
I have finally found my niche! My compadres are stoked because maybe Raven will finally master something lol (Therioz, Paramon, rejoice! lol). But then something else strange happened.
Someone accused me (of all people) of just going for the FoTM.
*sigh* Well not that I care what people think, but it bothered me. I mean, not that many people carry pikes right? Wrong. I started to notice after that comment that there *does* seem to be a good number of pikemen. Why? Looking at the skill trees, it didn't seem like it would be uber for PvP. So I looked around on the forums, and found the DoT discussion...
So I almost got bummed out again. My new favorite prof is overwhelmed by people who just want to use a DoT lance. But, I decided that it's want I want to do that matters. I'm actually having fun again because of pikes, and I could care less if it's what people want to do at the moment. Because honestly, when the nerf on DoTs happen, Raven will still have his stick in hand (how's that for a mental picture? 
)
) I'll try to be a productive member of this forum, and a positive member of the pikeman community.
I just hope that unlike most FoTM profs, you're cool with new members.

You're doing things for all the right reasons. Therefore you're immune to FotM-syndrome.

Umm, pike is not in anyway FotM. The only FotM thing about it is that we have über-loot, so some dumb grinder will say, "Woah! Über-loot! I shall go pikeman now!" If they ever get rid of the über-loot, the pike population will drop like a rock.

when you get master pikeman makes a world of difference...its sooo fun

Very glad to see a new Pikeman. 
By the way..... How far are you? Are you still in the Brawler tree? or are you already in the Pikeman tree? Either way you should take a look at my Guide (the link is in my sig) Or, if you've already looked at it, that's ok too! lol
