I don't know if this is a bug cuz somone told me it was normal...but that somone was a newb newer than me haha. anyway i leveld up in exploration and hunting. so when i went to go learn exploration I and hutning I i leved up the exploration but my hunting XP took a dive. it went from the required 1000 to about 200. was that supposed to happen? im just a little ticked at this. it's not THAT big of a deal i guess i can get it back but is this gonna happen everytime i level up in somethng?

Yes.

When you get a new skill, your experience gets "eaten up" and then you have to accumulate more experience to get to the next level.

It was a bit shocking the first time this happened to me ("Oh rats! I thought i could train in BOTH of those skills and not just in one of them. Rats rats rats."), but I'm used to it now. Tee hee hee.

Those two trees use the same experience pool. You get scouting experience to fill up both. When you have gained 1000 scouting experience, you can train one or the other. That 1000 points then is spent, you need to earn another 1000 scouting experience to train the other one.

It is a little confusing, but is the same way in other classes as well. For example in Creature Handler, you gain creature handling experience. All four trees use that experience. So as you are gaining experience, it appears you may have enough to train all 4 trees when in fact you only have enough to train one.

i was hunting on dathomir with my baby purbole hunter (lvl 1) and my fuull grown graul, im 2213, im looking for a good way to get xp so im using the baby with my adult tank, but i get 520 from the adult and 300something from the baby, how is this? i thought lower lvls give more? and a few other questions does the baby have to help slay the creature to get the xp or can i jsut call it back to eb safe and still get it, cause sometimes i have it attack call it back and i dont get xp, and what should i go for after i got managment 3 to get the most xp, thanks

I'm no expert on xp but I noticed that there is some sort of curve regarding xp. Pets that are about half grown give the most xp, more then full grown or even level 1 or two pets. I just finished killing some bolmas with two Grassland Slice hounds I had just tamed but they only give me 230 to 250 xp pet pet. Try going back when the Purbole is about half grown to see if there's a differnce.

there are xp caps on babies

Usually when gaining experience you are allowed to double up the xp for a skill. Meaning if a skill requires 200 xp you can get 400 xp before it caps.

Well on Advanced trapping 2 the required XP is 30,000 and the XP caps out at 40,000. Is this a bug or is it supposed to be like this for some reason? I was expecting to be able to get to 60,000 before returning to town from the fields.

Hmm. That sounds like someone forgot to increase that caps after they increased the XP required for the skill...send in a bug report on that one.

Hi, I'm new to SL, and I'm only passing through. But, just after starting down the road, I got to 7k xp and am no longer getting xp. I take it this is not normal, is this a known bug? Is there some kind of work around for it?

I assume you're trying to get the XP while you're the leader of a group correct?

I was getting xp fine... then it just... stopped... after I posted this, I started not getting any kind of xp... so one gets the feeling this is not a profession issue... I reformed the group and everything was fine... Lets see how long for...
