With the new changes regarding vendors (110 item per vendor cap), it'll not only make prices rise, but force merchants only to stock high demand items this will mean that Pikes will be extremely hard to find.
It's imperative that Pikeman support crafters on this issue and post in threads opposing the new vendor "fix" as part of patch 10.
I've a hard enought time as it is finding decent pikes for sale, and with this patch...
Let's stop this one before it starts.

I don't know what server you're on, but many of the major mweapons merchants on Starsider have polearms on their vendors, always. I have never had any trouble finding a LVA or a VL.

how comes that people start whining before the patch goes live?
and then its allways the same "its just me who becomes nerfed"
whiners unite and leave the game

But did you know they are taking the empty vendors off the world search? That is the Numba 1 best thing ever, I HATED driving all over a planet to go to a vendor and it was empty.
but if anyone is on the Gorath Galaxie talk to Iwanmo he is a good weaponsmith that will make pikes, Long Vibro Axes, and what not... and his vendor is on Dantooine by the mining outpost.

Since good pikes are probably 10 times easier to craft than good blasters (a few rare resources for pikes, compared to dozens of rare resources for blasters), I'd say it's a very safe bet that if this merchant change does go into effect and limit the total amount of stock that a merchant can have listed, then there will be specialized crafters out there who only worry about making a small focused group of weapons. My weaponsmith would be more than happy to forget all about ranged weapons and simply make melee weapons, because they're much easier to find good resources for, and they typically only have one sub-component, while ranged weapons have 2-4+ sub-components.
Making advanced vibro units only takes 3 specific resources, and those are the only sub-component required for most pikes (barring the Lance, which requires a control unit). On the other hand, making advanced blaster power handlers requires 4 specific resources, making advanced blaster barrels requires 2-3 specific resources depending on type (pistol, rifle), making advanced stocks require 1.5 specific resources (Corellian deciduous wood is almost always available, just not always of good quality), making advanced scopes requires good quality Chromium aluminum, and those are just the sub-components! Half of the blaster weapons require even more specific resources in the final schematic, usually 1-3 different ones, and half the time those required resources ALWAYS have crappy stats for the weapon!
In my opinion, high quality melee weapons are 10 times easier for a weaponsmith to make, compared to high quality blasters. It's also much much easier to worry about manufacturingtwo dozen items that you keep in stock, compared to five dozen items that you keep in stock. I think that, other than forcing crafters to take a lot of the merchant profession just to be able to sell their wares, most of the proposed vendor changes will make things much much better for the consumers in the playerbase, and may even make things easier on the crafters if they choose to provide a more focused inventory. The proposed vendor inventory limits are incredibly low for what is absolutely needed by every serious merchant, but the rest of those proposed changes look pretty promising.

yeah, you know, Axkva has always needed more room on her vendors for those pesky vibro units and schematics, let's not forget her followers man, those spell weavers are gonna have a hard time finding much room for those lances/VL's/LVA's. maybe al the force slu+s of dathomir oughtta get together and set up a bunch of vendors right behing Kiin'Dray. kinda like a guild-hall <-> mall type thing, i'm sure the nightsisters will avidly oppose this vendor nerf!
