Pikeman Archive

Hi people,

To make a long story short : i'm creating a new toon on another server with a friend of mine. Both looking the same, both goind entertainer (me music, him dance). But we, of course, also want to be able to stand our own in PVE.

Therefore, we planned to go TKM (for the cool looks and meditation) + Medic (resulting in M dancer/music, M TKM, Medic 4.4.3.0)

Now, we kindof tried all the combat prof in the game besides commando (too many poins needed), Fencer & Pike.

Soooooo, i was wondering, instead of going both TKM, if it was viable that one of us would go Pike with the same template as above. Considering we would be playing together all the time, is it viable? one guy TKM and the other one Pike ? Or would you recommand another pair (no 2H sword please ) ? I also like the look of Pike and AOE KD sems like fun, but i never ever played it..and to be honest i never even SAW a Pikeman in action on my server...

Pike alone with definitely be fine. If you got some speed tapes, you'd probably actually be doing a lot better than the TKA in PvE.

I've got another newbish question though, i saw many screenshots (nice btw) on this specific screenshot thread and most of the ones i saw show that Pike weapons do Kinetic damage.

Do Pikemen/women have other damage type weapons? Because thats also something that bothered us while thinking about our "fighting" couple : 2 tka's = only kin damage, which can be really bad in some situations...

The Vibro Lance does electricity damage and we also have the extremely hard to get Nightsister Energy Lance that does energy damage, but most of the time the Long Vibro Axe is more useful than the Vibro Lance that's why you see most of us do kinetic damage.

With my current setup as a master pike using decent to good lances i can outdamage my brother who is a tka. I just cant hit as fast.

But to answer your question with you as a pike and your friend as a tka there will be very few mobs that you cant both duo together. We both do the geo cave quite often and it is quite fun actually.

i don't think that pikeman alone isn't sufficient against high level mobs unless you have someone healing you.Pikemen take more damage compared to a TK or Swordsman. if you plan to hunt with your friend that's going up TK, then you guys are limiting yourselves to only 2 damage types, Kinetic and Electricity (Energy if you're fortunate). even though you asked for no swordsman, i would still say that one of you go Swordsman, the other Pike.

meditate 4 is an invaluable tool.
