Hi fellow Pikemen,
I am a Bounty Hunter first place, but the boards there are not exactly filled with people knowing the Pikeman prof, so I come here for some advice or ideas.
After deciding on using Fencer for my jedi hunter template, it really dawned on me I dont enjoy playing a Fencer much.... its simply not the character I enivisioned to play.
So, time for a change:
Master Pikeman
3000 Bounty Hunter
the question is, how to best flesh out the template for jedi hunting and PvE. Regular PvP is not much of my concern as long as the GCW is in its current state.
So far, I use 3040 BH with 0040 Pistoleer, really the standard defense stacker thing.
With the low defenses of Pikeman, would you recommend a different one? Rifleman? or the 0004 Pistoleer? Or 4000 TKA and forget about ranged?
Its really all about taking down Jedi and having fun in PvE.
thanks a lot

I'd say 0004 TK or 4000 fencer for the added melee/ranged defense, fencer might be the better choice here. I always use TKMin PvPso I don't really know how pikes do against jedi but since they have no armor and no mitigation a normal pike should hurt them a lot.
In PvE pike is just wonderful except against those mobs with 100% immunity to kinetic and electricity.

If you're going after Jedi, your best bet is a pure damage pike since they have no damage mitigation.
The trick is to keep them on their back and not let them, put them back down before they force run away if they do get up, and keep them pinned there. Use intimidate on them if they get into a position to damage to you, as it's the only way to reduce their damage output aside from synthsteak (you can pull a PSG from a crate to get LS resists, but it's an unintended bug and will wear out fast anyways).
Start off with a few areattack3s or spinattack2s to get them dizzy, then go for the sweep or lunge. Most Jedi can heal states while on their back, so once they're down, keep nailing them with areattack3 to keep thedizzy on them as soon as they heal itand keep them on their back. If they get up, they're going to tear into you are force run away, so don't let that happen.
If you have the extra SP, pick up some medic, or fencer stances line for the extra melee defense.
Thaktillo is your friend against Jedi KDing you.
This works very well unless you run into a Jedi with Master Defender (high increase in toughness), in which case you may have to incorporate DOTs (fire of any kindis prefered as the majority of Jedi can't cure the DOT, nor heal off the wounds).
Good luck!

with that template, your main problem is low defensive mods. even with COB running, you're going to have a hard time standing toe-to-toe with a jedi.

right now against jedi, gona need melee, they block alot of ranged, sooner u get them on there back, the better. For my jedi hunter template,id go with master fencer..pistoleer 0044.bh 3000.. or maybe master fencer pistoleer 0040 bh 3040...u could substitude fencer wtih swords/tk/pike..but if u want swords or pike,id recomend geting some major AA's

the problem lies in our toughness and block.....
against other classes block isnt so much of a problem because our armour will block the remaining 50% when we do actually "block"
but we dont actually block the dots or states
also our toughness is alot lower, so we take alot more damage then say a swordsman....
my template is 3040 BH (when i finish the invest line) pikeman with 2000 medic..... picking up anything in pistoleer is garbage imo for jedi hunting because a simple thakotillo is all that is necessary..... maybe just try and damage then before they damage u hehe or pick up 0004 TKM
