I'm working on box four of the Novice Brawler polearms tree. I had a metal staff that does around 80-140 damage with -2 on accuracy. I was getting tired of fighting rockmites so I started shopping for a better weapon. I looked at both lances and long vibro axes.
The lances I saw had a really low minimum damage and a max not much higher than my metal staff. The LVA had better minimum and maximum than my metal staff at about the same speed.
It wasn't until I started using it and missing like crazy that I realized it has an awful accuracy penalty of around -35. I did more shopping and found that all the LVAs had similar awful accuracy.
So what's the point of this weapon even being in the game? An accuracy powerup barely makes a dent.
Should I just ditch the LVA and go back to my metal staff? I'm not sure how I'll advance if I can only attack fairly wimpy animals due to weapon limitations.
thanks for any info

At this point in your levelling, the LVA is not the best choice (although it used to be -20 worse than it is now). Stick with a basic lance until you get Novice, then try the VL if you're having trouble with accuracy until you get some Support boxes. Or you can always use the accuracy food to help you out if you're really hurting, or find a weaponsmith who has experimented on range mods. Some can be quite reasonable.

Avoid the LVA like the plague especially if whatever you are fighting can blind.
Side note: Its funny seeing a FotM Pikenub get angry because he's blinded and can't land a hit with his 238974976 damage looted LVA with -45 accuracy mods.
