Is pikeman a good profession for pvp?

Yes.

If you can get some nice DOTs and some high damage pikes and practice with them......you will be a feared jedi killer on your server.

It also helps to have some speed tapes (I had +10 total and master brawler when I was a pikeman..coulda used more though).

DOTs are nice but for the longest time i used a 791 LVA and could beat on people as well as anyother profession. AP2 vs AP1 on the armor. AoE dizzy/kd Pikeman is great for just damage IMHO. but yes, dots are nice.
