why?

because I've always liked polearms. my plan since before beta was to play pikeman, and I played it in beta, but wasn't in beta long enough to really get that far. I started pikeman in retail but backde away from it because it was too difficult.

After mastering crafting and ranged professions (weaponsmith/carbineer) and more, I wanna go back and do what I always wanted to do.

I know the profession is weak so here's what I'm considering doing.

TKA first, THEN pikeman. why? some of the defense mods will stack (namely "melee defense" and "ranged defense") and I'll have meditation.

if I have to be a TKA to be a good pikeman then I'll do it... although I've also thoguht about pikeman and doctor for the constant availability of buffs. so I'm kinda conflicted here.

anyway I'm almost master brawler now.. what a pain in the ass the brawler tree is.

Im doing the same thing. I leveled Pike but after the nerf I was lost since I couldnt come close to fighting what I used to kill daily, Tuskens. Anyways, after the nerf I tried out a few other proffs but ended up TKA. Man, what a great proff. It has everything the Pikeman need. Defense. Anyways, Im going to finish TKA then come back to Pike and finish it since by then I should have enough defensive mods to stay alive in combat while I finish the tree. Funny how we need a second combat class to make an effective Pikeman.

eh, you need two with every proffession. I'd be one dead TKA without CH and Medic. You can only do so much with one proffession.

As for needing two "combat" proffessions... You have to learn to use your profession.

Granted right now TKA is about fixed. But we where the guniea pig for melee like riflemen where for ranged. They just took the first one on the end I guess. But since the guinea pigs are close to where they want them the others shouldn't take as much time to fix. The general issues with melee and ranged are being solved with TKA and Rifleman. Only the class specific issues are going to slow it down.

yeah thats not a bad idea. im currently master pikeman and working my way up the TK meditation tree to help with all the wounds i take (not to mention the other nice benefits)

im even tinkering with the idea of dropping some of my MCH points to master a 2nd TK tree.. probably whatever would give me the most defensive bonuses.
