Thread: Hey Im A Pikeman Now!~!!
....I just got it last night.......Im sticking with it though....my main issue...WE MISS TO OFFTEN!!!
also...have a Q...What dose Polearm Speed actually do....dose it affect the Speed that your Weapon has...?
For instance I use a LVA with a speed of 2.9....now with my Polearm speed dose it actually make it faster than 2.9.? And if so...what the hell for,...... so I can miss faster?![]()
lower speed, the better, it is the amt of time between hits.
And yes it is better to have faster speed. The faster you are, the more chances you get to hit the opponent, since you're going to miss a lot of times.
To much speed offers no benefit. There is a speed cap for PvP combat. At some points you can't hit any faster. My lance hits as fast and as accruate as a Master TK with vibros btw.
After some more testing and using my LVA, which did do more damage even with the misses as a factor, the TK Master did feel, in his opinion, I would easily out damage him with a well made LVA that hits harder not faster.
That has yet to be seen, but knowing there is a speed cap and damage has no real cap, in theory he is correct.
This would certainly hold true for the lance. There fast to begin with and if an unsliced lance can go blow for blow with a pair of Vibros, then damage slice is the way to go.
Bottom line, more speed isn't always good.
There is a speed cap, but even if you cap out at 1 attack per second with regular attacks, a faster weapon can do specials more quickly than a slow one. So my 3.9 speed damage sliced VL takes about 3 seconds to recover from a polearmhit3 while my 2.7 speed sliced LV only takes 2.
Obviously you want to use the high damage one if you aren't using many specials, but if you are buffed/spiced/well fed and can afford to do a lot of specials a speedy one may be better. I don't do any calculations so I'm not sure what the damage per second for each is.
This is why I get annoyed when TKA/fencers complain that we attack just as fast as them at master. It seems bogus because they can do their most powerful attacks much more quickly than we can and apply more states more quickly (and not miss of course).
