I switched over from BH to become a pikeman....."thank you goddamn sith holocron" and this is the most jacked up skill I have ever seen. I have only polearm 3 in the brawler tree and i have recorded hits on creatures at 1.5k.....pretty **edit** good, unless you factor in the part that i only hit around 50% of the time if im lucky. Then I have a friendly duel with someone and my hits "if and when i hit" only hurt by 200? This skill makes my head hurt and if I dont get my FS slot for masteringthis horrible skillim quitting this game for final fantasy 11.

I think I am dropping to polearm 3 Wish I was hitting for 50%, or 200 PvP, or 1500 PvE

I just took pikeman up(for the defensive tree) and I have to say.. what the hell is up with a -50 accuracy modifier on everything above a normal lance? And where's all the polearm toughness? Fencers get more toughness with thier weapon than pikeman.

Anyways, I'm just glad this isn't going to be my primary weapon.

Ouch.

Welcome to the weakest melee class.

The pikeman class takes brains to learn how to play, and play effectively.

You will miss ~50% of the time.

Using specials with a Long Vibro Axe will kill you faster.

Intimidate is your friend, it cuts damage to about half. Learn it, use it, love it. I open all fights with it, and it doesnt cause agro. You can intimidate over and over until it lands and then move in to attack. I usually start inimidating from 25m away, then go in.

Berserk, I've learned that this is more effective than using specials. My Specials average me a total of 160 HAM cost, and do about 800-2500 damage (over 6000 on Rifleman). I hit for 300-1000 damage non specials, with no HAM cost, and no delay before next attack.

You're only hitting for 200 because you're low in the pikeman tree. I hit for over 500 damage in PvP with Polearm Leg Hit 3, and Polearm Hit 3 does the same damage. Pikeman class is underpowered, Holocron addressed this, but its a rewarding class, in my opinion, if you learn how to play the class. I may not be the best at PvP, but I hold my own when it comes to PvE.

Just one of many - Don't use anything other than Basic Lance 'till you hit at least Advanced Support. You'll be missing more than you want to...

I find the trade off for massive damage for slightly less accuracy(I still hit often enough) worth it. When compared to the regular lance at least. I still shouldn't be missing this much.

Update on this skill that makes my head hurt......I am now a pikeman 0/0/0/2 (got 170k combat xp as a BH)

Anyways, I was out grinding XP and some crazy shiet happened. One, i was now hitting stuff between 500-6000 and not just durnis either. Then after that show of hitting for 6k i decided to try out PVP once again, this skill is surprising the hell out of me. PVP damage was between 200-2000 all on the action pool. And these guys I was hitting (in friendly duels mind you so they didn't run away) were wearing full suits of ST or Composite armor. Of course the accuracy still sucks....../sigh.......but the more i play this skill the more of a headache it gives me cuz it has no definable numbers. I dont know how the **edit** game decides that i wont hit 4 times in a row then I hit for one big blow of 2k, then i'll miss another 3 times, then i hit for 600..........stupid bugged skill.......im confused.
