Thread: A novice pikeman bows out
I haven't been here long but I'm leaving pikeman for awhile.
I'm a novice pikeman and I'm only 0-0-0-2. I'm not leaving because I'm tired of the devs ignoring us or horrible accuracy etc etc etc.
There is a much simpler reason. I recently got Teras Kasi Master and I loved every minute of it. For a long time my dream was to get Teras Kasi Master / Master Pikeman and I was pretty bone headed about mastering two melee professions. Well I hit TKM on Sunday night and decided to focus on pikeman. I'm playing on Monday night and it hit me. . . I want to do TKA. I'm hitting things with my Pike (finally. . . that +30 accuracy box really does help) but I'm thinking " I JUST got TKA master. . . do I have to move on to something else so soon?"
So the simple truth is this. I worked for TKA and I simply want to enjoy mastery of that profession before I immediately start working on yet another combat profession.
Will I revisit pikeman again. . . who knows? For know I'm going to enjoy the game and have fun with my TKA and maybe do some ranger or doc or artisan or whatever. Needless to say I think I'll be able to find a use for those 63 skill points.
Later.
I usually do goodbye posts not because I'm pompus but because I try to be an active member of the profession I'm a part of. The pikeman community is small so you get to know everyone fairly quickly and some of you may know me by now so I wish to tell you all Goodbye.
Gunman, CLab and Antares keep up the good work and Braglor keep trying to solo those Krayts ![]()

yah, I remember when I got the master TKA I too had to take a short break from grinding at Dathomir. As always I played around with the spitting graul(or is it raul?) skill from master TKA, but after having bitchslapped some Imperials and Insane Kitonaks on Tatooine I grew tired of TKA and started my grind to master PIkeMan to gain the bleeds and leghit3s which ultimately made me into master PikeMan. Now I use the TKA skills mainly as support for the PikeMan profession, but every now and then I take them out and hit an insane Kitonak just for the fun of it.
You will be back Atimes, I know you will ![]()
Dude, don't quit.
I just hit 2123 in Pikeman (should have been 2033, but I didn't pay attention whenI was getting trained). It is a world better than when I started. Get a good doctor buff and picket lairs are a breeze to solo, and as a Wookiee, my only armor is my AR0 fur ![]()
Stick with it, I'm actually enjoying pikeman now that I've figured out how to use the skills that I have. COB, intimidate and even warcry are necessary tools for pikeman... follow those with a KD and a dizzy and you're pummeling all around you into oblivion. Area attacks are fun too when you get a crowd.
Yes, I am a holo pikeman, but I plan on keeping it after. It's a hoot to play as a melee fighter.
It's not that I don't like it. I just want to enjoy TKM a bit more. . . and swordsman. . . and fencer.
I like all melee but I'm also thinking of redundancy. Swordsman get the power hammer. I've already got kinetic damage with TKA so medium armor piercing with kinetic (LVA) is still kinda redundant.
I'll probably do TKA/Swordsman with my main and I've got an alt on kettemoor who's actually pretty close to master brawler I'll probably do pikeman/fencer with that guy.
