Thread: Non-holo New PikeWo-man with question
there is a helpful guide above that works well for trudging through polearm, there is also a faq floating around somewhere that will help as well. One of the big things to remember is that because the LVA has terrible accuracy you will want to keep with a lance for a long time, most go till at least novice pikeman before switching. Other than that a lot depends on your play style, if you get good doctor buffs and are not worried about ham costs then specials work well, and taking on bigger creatures always gets you more xp, as long as you don't die that is
. If you have a pet you can have them tank. Be sure to be part medic, I didn't drop that till near master, and only because I really needed the points elsewhere. Unless you have a doctor friend you will need to be able to heal yourself to make the process go quickly. If possible get some high end ubese/composite, depending on your cash flow. Anything above 74% kenetic will help a lot going against bigger mobs.
Anything else you need to know will be in the other threads or someone will post here what I missed. And don't worry about those that will come in here and be upset that you didn't just look through the various threads already available, they are just weary of all the new pikepeople coming asking for help, plus they spent a lot of time writing up excellent posts on just this topic, much better than what I did.
I just picked up my very first polearm trying to avoid all the TKA's out there, and being rather sick of my flamethrower. (As a woman, I also boycott any cantina based professions) And no, I am not doing this because a magic little cube told me to.
I am trying to get threw polearm 4 and then into the long haul to achieving Novice Pikeman. I wanted to know if those of you who have made it though, had any tips or advice for me on how the heck to get through it with my sanity intact.
I am finding everyone with even a cdef is robbing me of precious xp on even simple creatures! At 40-80 xp a pop that 100k+ xp to nov. is a heck of a lot.
Thanks for all the help, and if you are on Flurry, give Tracy a /tell.

As far as Exp goes, killing Meatlumps outside of Tyrena can net you some quick exp. They spawn fast as long as you loot the bodies. The exp per kill is arun 100-180. However due to the spawn rate it stacks up fast. Group as much as possible, try to find one with a dedicated medic. They will become your best friend rather quickly. Also if you have not gotten it already get Novice Medic, and some Stim B's. You will need it as a pikeman. When you you get Polearm 4 head to the Batcaves on Talus. I know several Pikeman including my self that leveled there. Its fast exp. I hope this helps you on your way to Master Pikeman. If you have other questions please post them or PM me. Good Luck

"..who have made it" ...those choice of words are so discouraging.I get the impression that you feel the profession to be rather more of a strain than an enjoyment. I loved every second of the profession from Novice Brawler to Master PikeMan, and I still do. My advice for you would be to keep an open mind and realize that once you get your stances, bleeds and leghits, you will be one of the best PvE players this galaxy has ever seen.

I'll have to second that... I'm only a novice (0/0/1/1) but with my limited skill, I find it amusing when medium level critters come up an surround me. Perfect example - while running through Corellia - surrounded by 6 slicehounds. (Note: I use basic lance most of the time)
battle went as follows
center, bleed the first to reach me, (2 more join in), bleed them, (3 more join in), center, spin (watch 1 die), spin (watch 2 more die), bleed the three left, spin (2 more dead), switch to axe and watch the last one crumble.
Carnivore meat on Corellia isn't so bad, at the moment :-)
Misterie master chef/novice pikeman
nice to have you back on the correct path again
