Pikeman Archive

Hi guys. My first post on the official SWG forums.

I started off playing this game, oh, a couple months ago, maybe more. I started out doing a bit of everything, but one thing that I was drawn to for some reason was Pikeman. To make a long story short, I just kept levelling through Pikeman for most of that time. I bought all my own weapons (went through a couple VLs and an LVA), bought all my own armor (went through a Ubese jacket, pants, and helmet, and then bought a set of composite), and the like. I ended up with about 250k by the time I had mastered.

I don't think Pikeman is that bad. Yeah, when you start out, getting through Polearms IV is tough, just like pretty much any other combat profession. Once I hit Novice Pikeman, it wasn't too bad at all. I would kill huurtons on Dantooine. I started out with just regular huurtons, and then moved up to huurton howlers and then huurton huntresses. With a good suit of armor and some nice buffs, you can pretty much fight at will. The going price for buffs is usually 6K - you can make that back in a couple missions easily.

Anyways, I LOVED Pikeman. It's something I really enjoyed. The profession is a great way to meet people - I don't think I ever met a fellow Pikeman I didn't like. The moves and animations are nice to look at, not to mention powerful once you move up the skills. PolearmSweep1, PolearmHit3, the action bleeds, they're all fun! And don't forget the fun that comes with teases from your guildmates about being "one of the worst classes in the game."

But alas, all good things must come to an end. I chose Pikeman by my own free will, but as much as I like the profession and would like to keep it, I want to continue to have something to play for. So I went with what my Holocron said, and I'll be going BH. Unfortunately, that means I'll have to drop, well, all of Pikeman. It was a lot of fun while I had it, and maybe I'll be back someday! Thanks for a great time in the greatest profession in the game!
