at level 1-0-2-1 I was grinding at the borgle bat cave on rori (see "I'm batman!"). Anyway I was getting about 900-1100 xp per kill depending on what bat it was.

I am now 2-0-2-2.

After training I went back to the cave and am only getting 500-800 xp per kill. Whats the deal? Also, now when I kill meatlumps and other low level thugs I get 1 xp of polearm ("You recieve 1 polearm experience"), instead of the 30-50 I used to get.

my only conclusion is that as you get higher in level, lower npc's become worth less xp points, forcing you to go to tougher planets and fight tougher creatures.

or I could be bugged (wouldn't be the first time in this game).

Please tell me if you or others have experienced this same thing.

As it was said, you gain xp depending on how difficult the task is. Ever noticed you don't get xp from killing a baby animal? this is becasue they are very easy. when your a 2022 pikeman, killing say thugs is just as easy as killing a baby, hence you get 1 or 0 xp. As you go up in level, it is actually easier to get a given amount of xp, because the rate at which you can kill things increases faster than the rate of how much xp they give decreases. (Think, was pike 4 70x as hard as pike 1?)

erh... The amount experience gained is tied to which skill level you have and how difficult the targeted task is to complete.

....and there's the expe caps to consider. I would never get anymore than around 5000 polearm expe, 500 combat expe even when fighting some of the toughest creatures in this game.

Thanks for the help...

so, what would you guys say is a good thing to hunt at my level then?

I'm thinking pikets, but I don't (and have never) used armor or buffs. Would these be too hard?

Fighting huurton huntresses I picked up polearm 1-4 and novice yesterday. I'm now 0/0/1/2 trying to decide if I should save my xp for defense or put it in a different line. With armor I was able to handle a few huurtons stalkers/huntresses at a time (my melee defense is 161 though). With buffs, I was able to take novice force mystik crystal hunters. Basically slap your bleeds on them and hope they die before you.

It also doesn't hurt to find a night sister dropped pike that has a dot. My leveling LVA is around 200 damage at 2.5 speed with a 284 strength health poison. My big game VL is 706 damage at 3.9 speed with a 241 strength action poison. Those weapons help a lot. Bleed 1 does around 1500 damage for me, and I can't wait to see how much bleed 2 does.
