Thread: I'm doing plenty of damage...

I was once a pikeman, it was cool; the sounds, the moves and what not. But I dropped it because of how little damage I did and how much I missed.


After hearing about the *band-aid* I recently went back to pikeman. (Well, I'm working on it, I'm at 60k xp and am currently polearms IV) Now, after reaching polearms III and getting my LVA, I immediatly noticed two things: I do a lot more damage and miss a hell of a lot more. My LVA has -32/-32/-32 range modifiers yet I'm missing a lot more than when I was a pikeman before the *band-aid*. I'm 0/1/4/2 in heavy swordsman so I'm getting higher level missions outside coronet (Swamp humbaba and gronda mainly) and taking these things with buffs (and brandy) while using my LVA. I'm doing about 500-1500 damage per hit. (Depending on if I use special attack or not)


I've got no problem with the increased damage, but I'm missing over half the time. I was fighting the same creature, with 7k ham,for 5 minutes, about 3.5 of those were misses. What is going on here? I remember hitting a lot more before the *band-aid*.

I was an old skool pikeman too and until novice I was hitting alot less, usually the only way I could actually hit was auto-attack (For some reason no matter what specials would never hit targets).


I got to 0/0/0/2 back then and dropped it in disgust with the way our accuracy was. Pikeman has come a nice ways with that 1 modification to our weapons. Maybe theyll see we still need more to pose any threat, especially with the "Most damaging melee profession" description (I sure hope they didnt mean the damage ham costs do to us...if so theyre right...)

Oh yeah and I got master about a week ago. Yay me!


Against someone without melee damage mitigation my polearm hit 3 does around 900 damage in pvp (with a 370ish damage lva).



I could put up with all pikeman's weaknesses and low points if they just lowered our ham costs so they arent so insane.


I was given a looted lva with about the same ham costs as a knuckler and it still eats you alive (ham was 30something/50something/20something, dont remember the order theyre in though. Ill post a screen if someone really wants it)
