Thread: Pikeman the most underestimated PVE profession

I am currently leveling Pikeman on my Weaponsmith toon (was my 2nd hole and very late decided I should try do another holo profession if that gives me some extra FS XP when pub 10 is released). Was Carbineer before (the other underestimated profession). I was only 2-0-0-2 when I was in Fort Tusken getting some XP. I have to say that this was much easier than with other professions I been there leveling (fencer and rifleman). I cut down Warlords much easier than with the other profession I have been leveling there. And I don't have any uber pike a speed sliced crafted pike, however I have +20 speed/accuracy dskill tapes which help me a lot I guess.

But of course Swordsman have higher damage weapons than we so they still outdamage us (at least if speed capped). But we do pretty good IMO and 2h speed tapes are a pain to get on my server (even if I can afford paying the outrageous prices).

We would be really good if state effects would work with high-end creatures/NPC and we get some better defenses (would prefer to get more toughness than anything else).

hmm 2 million spent andI have +9 speed and am as good as capped with my 4.4 speed, 517 max damage (goodslice)crafted LVA. I outdamage most others against groupsin PvE for the simple reason of our area KD. In PvE we are simplygreat, in PvPblehI got TKM for that.

I picked up pikeman on the advice of my former pole arm friend who solo'd a krayt and the vette with the prof. I have come to the conclusion that with proper investment the profession is uber for PVE. If you're a cheapskate, swords owns it

Well, if you use a lance that is not crafted, with much better damage, say 800, it will have a speed of 5+. You also need Accuracy/Block tapes too, not just speed.

I have rather crappy luck with loot (at least loot I canuse formyself)so I don't count on it

I don't missall that oftenin PvE anyway and block can be as high as you want, the biggest prey doesn't care. I admit in PvP you need to spend a ton of money on those, but as I said I use TKM for that (but unarmored).

First off, a GOOD speed attachment is terribly expensive. I know some one is gonna pop up and say they got a +11 for 500k or something, but for the most part such items sell (on eclipse) for near ONE MILLION PER POINT.

I dont want to spend so much, I spend my money on rugs instead. MU WA HA HA

Check the bazaar for +1 attachments. Your goal is one in every slot. 9 slots in composite and a belt and a shirt... is +11. If you can stand the look of a bandoleer, ... +12. These things (the +1's) DO show up on the bazaar often enough that if you check ... you will find some. You might even get lucky and find a +2!!

Seems that Wanderhome has cheap prices on Pikeman tapes. at leasthwne I bought mine. Think I payed 100-300k for mine but they are on the rise. Seen auction lately where speed SEA was sold for 1 mill / point. But still not close to Swordsman prices

master pikeman + master fencer + master brawler + tka 4-0-0-0 is pretty good. Especially against those pesky jedi. And with my extensive collection of dot lances they better look out!

Just wear stun helm/chest/gloves/boots, get there base up 85% with a good slice, make sure they have 39% stun, currently what I have, then the rest of the armor 90% base, put a imp PSG on, and steak. Then you are ready
