Recently, we've had some frequently asked questions asked frequently, so here's a few answers:

Q1: What do I need to hit the speed cap?
A1: The current speed formula is:
final_delay = special_delay_multiplier * weapon_delay * (100 - speed_bonus)/100
You can go to this site for a nice calculator at the bottom that will tell you exactly how much +speed you will need to hit the cap with your weapon.
The general answer is +95, this will allow you to hit the cap with any polearm at master pike, as we rarely if ever use a weapon with a speed slower than 6.7.

Q2: What are the special damage and delay modifiers for pikeman?
A2: This post will tell you all you need to know about this.

Q3: Which Pikeman skill attachments work, and which do not?
A3: Working: Polearm Speed, Polearm Accuracy, Block
Not Working: Polearm Evasion, Polearm Counterattack, Polearm Damage

Q4: What is a good template? / Rate my template.
A4: This post should help you out with that info.

Q5: What is the best progression to follow when levelling Pikeman?
A5: This post should help you out with that info. Generally, the best way to go is speed first:
000x -> 400x -> 404x -> 444x -> 4444

Q6: How do I get the Nightsister Energy Lance? / What is the NSEL?
A6: Guide to the NSEL.

Q7: How good is this polearm I looted?
A7: Guide to looted pikemen weapons.

Q8: How much is this polearm worth?
A8: Best place to go.

Q9: Do DoTs stack from different polearms?
A9: Yes they do. This should have been fixed before, but the fix the devs added evidently failed.

Q10: Is block working or is it broken?
A10: Yes. Block works as the devs intended it to. It is currently inherently inferior to counterattack and dodge because, whereas the others evade 100% of the incoming damage on a successful activation, block allows 50% of the damage to pass through. There are no other features of block that offset this imbalance.

Q11: Where can I find a Pikeman trainer?
A11: Pikeman trainers can be found in:
Corellia - Kor Vella: -3412 3084
Talus - Dearic: 522 -2934
Tatooine - Mos Espa: -2931 2386
Rori - Narmle: -5278 -2328
Naboo - Theed: -5375 4311

Q12: What are the defensive stats I will have at Master Pikeman?
A12: This post should help you out with that info.

Q13: What mob drops Polearm or Polearm Speed attachments more often?
A13: No mob in particular drops Polearm attachments in any higher frequency than other types of attachments, it's all random. Popular places to loot attachments are from factional NPCs like commandos, also Aa'kuans, Nightsisters, etc. The higher the level of the NPC, the better the attachment will be if you loot one. Lord Nyax has been sadly camped for a long time because of this very reason. The man gets no sleep.

Q14: I'm too busy to read all this stuff, can I just have the answers?
A14: No problem. We here on the pikeman board are glad to help. Here are all the answers to your questions!

Q15: Is there a cap on accuracy?
A15: There is no hard cap on accuracy, but there is a limit on what you can do to increase your accuracy. To improve your accuracy you can add:
  • +25 accuracy from skill attachments
  • +12 from FS melee accuracy bonuses
  • +5 from Master Brawler
  • more bonuses from Squad Leader and food
  • better range mods on your weapon (i.e. +7/+7/+7 on lances, -45/-45/-45 on looted LVAs) - weaponsmiths can experiment with this

Ver informative. One thing. You said we rarely use a weapon slower than 6.7. Are you quoting the average speed of the VL, NSEL, and the LVA or do you eman individual stats of each respective pike?

It means nobody's ever really encountered a polearm with slower than a 6.7 attack speed. That speed isn't an average, it's a worst-case scenario. Most weapons will be considerably faster.

K, Well I know this is a faq but I am grinding pikeman (currently 2x12) andI love the whole look and have seen continual references to the combat revamp. Does anybody (Gunman? Antares?) Know when this seemingly mythical event may actually become reality? And thanks to everybody for all the cool advice. I'm busy killing savage quenkers and am trying to work out how to group then abandon a mouse droid to get the extra xp. May I salute you for your service to this Imperial trooper.

Information regarding the Combat Revamp will be posted Janurary ... So far, we're speculating within 6 months to a year (most likely not a year)the Revamp will come out.
