Most pikeman I see use LVA's... my question is, will a Vibro Lance still be good in PvP? My stats are:
Vibro Lance
168-720 3.9[w/pup]
(I am speedcapped)
I notice LVA's deal out kinetic damage and VL's deal out electricty damage.. would I not have the upperhand?
I also notice that LVA's are medium armor piercing, and VL's are just light... is this a big difference?

Yes....they are equally good in PvP. Actually the Vl might bebetter becausecomp can only have 80% electricity in theSP from what i understand. All you need is AP1 or higher and youre set. nice damage on that VL btw...is that dood sliced?

To put some numbers into the example:
Your pike by itself has an average damage of 444 and it will go up against an armor resist of 80%.I compare it to anLVA with the exact same average damage, which would go up against a potential 90% armor, but having a bonus of 25% due to high AP. The results are:
Vibro Lance: 444*0.2 = 89 dmg
Long Vibro Axe: 444*0.1*1.25 = 56 dmg
So, with the same stats on the dmg, the vibro lance will deal more damage toaplayer (with high kin resists).

but.....one thing w/ that, most pikemen i know dont even use a high dmg LVA or VL in pvp against peeps w/ armor on
i only use my 900 max LVA against jedi, otherwise its pretty useless, honestly
if u wanna do good in pvp against peeps w/ armor, buy like two 250 str mind poisons and a 200 str mind fire
that will get the job done in no time, you will be feared (^_^)

Assuming 80% electric resistance and identical damage stats on the VL and LVA:
With 85% or higher kinetic resistance a VL will be better.
With 84% kinetic resitance they will be the same.
With 83% or lower kinetic resitance the LVA is better.
With 85% or higher kinetic resistance a VL will be better.
With 84% kinetic resitance they will be the same.
With 83% or lower kinetic resitance the LVA is better.

Quoth Zarqon,
> but having a bonus of 25% due to high AP
A common misconception. AP > AR is supposed to increase the degradation to the armour's condition; testing this reliably is not an undertaking I'd wish to pursue... It does NOT increase the damage actually taken by the wearer; this can be observed under controlled conditions. Have a friend wear a full suit and poke him first with your LVA then with your VL and do the maths...

no
i personally think thats wrong, think about it.....a stun baton w/ 300 max dmg (or a geo pistol for that matter) will hit somone for a hell of alot LESS dmg than a Jawa Ion Rifle (especially when the one getting shot is wearing stun armor) WHY?
this is because of the ion rifle's AP
Atleast thats what i think lol
oh yeah, and btw, i do know that rifleman specials are probably more damaging than pistoleer or fencer specials, but still the fact remains (even w/ out specials, the rifle hits higher)

Stun baton (AP0) against stun armour (AR1) is resisted 50% for AP < AR then an additional percentage based on the stats of the armour.
Jawa ion rifle (AP1) against the same armour (AR1) has AP = AR and so will not take the initial 50% resist, only the percentage from the armour.
Naturally an AP1 weapon will do better than an AP0 weapon against AR1 armour that is not vulnerable.
I am talking about the case where AP > AR. If you think what I said was wrong please post contradictory evidence instead of something unrelated.

Speaking as someone who actually has tested this under controlled conditions, you're mistaken.
There is a 25% damage bonus for each level that AP is greater than AR, except in the case of vulnerabilities.
