I see lots of complaining about the range mod on the LVA, although at masterpike I tend to forget how often that was. My appolgies if this idea doesn't seem streamlined throughout the entire pikeman ladder.

First off, I think the LVA is fine under the brawler spec. I think that as a person starting the road to master a powerfull polearm starts to understand how to use one and use one with deadly blows he/she would be very eager to set down that lame wooden staff and pickup the daddy damage dealer as he/she strived for novice specialization. Find later that the VL, once becoming novice, should be deadly by accuracy and gracefull use.

Much in the same aspect you might learn to shoot a bow witha trainer or small recurve, as you grasp how to do so you want the most powerfull one you can get ahold of to see the potential of real power. As you continue to use this you hone your skill and accuracy and find that using a lighter more delicute style of weapon can be perhaps not so penatratingly powerfull but more accurate to land in the killzone more often.

As far as current damage from the LVA and VL, they nerfed melee because pvp was to swift yet they give commandos the same damage we used to do from styles in normal hits that someone cannot even get resists for. That being said, if the melee class is to be balanced with others then we should have base damage weapons of 600-2000 damage, which is not going to happen because I sence a fettish for ranged classes.

What can be done, and what should be done, LVA needs heavy armor pierce with such high negative range mod. It's a powerfull weapon, pike is supposed to be the most powerfull melee thus heavy AP seems fit. As that would bring about better balance the VL should have medium armorpierce and does infact need it's damage brough up to be more inline with the powerhammer from 2handed spec or perhaps just a few under current lva damage.

Off the topic also, I hear rumor of polearmhit3 only doing x3 damage where as all other elite melee master moves do x4. Why again does class description say we are the heavy damage dealers? /sigh.

Simple these are tanq norms for good damage pikes thus far, LVA 102-366 AP2, and VL 90-291 AP1. Proposed changes I would like to see would shoot for max damage in the range of 430-500 AP3 on LVA and 350-450 AP2 on VL depending on resource quality and not including rancor teeth etc mods. Do these or do these not seem like fair max damage and armorpeirce mods if range mods are left alone on these two weapons thus bringing pikeman back in line on the melee foodchain?

Oh yeah, UN-NERF KD!

Going with the lighter, more accurate less damage dealer....

I would be ecstatic if i got ahold of a RCS staff that did a min damage of about 100 and maxdamage in thevery low 200's, had AP1, speeds in the 1-3 range, had positivie range mods and had low HAM costs.

I think they need to introduce 'master weapons' ones that only a master can wield, are harder to craft, and give masters a distinct benefit over novices(and sub masters). Perhaps this can be accomplished for all fighting classes by moving some of the weapons up to master status (like maybe theT21, this new staff, etc..)

I dont really like my LVA, i have to spend a ton on HAM reducing powerups and on Stims to heal myself from doing special moves, it misses all the time, but when it does land it does damage. Hitting for about 1/6th to 1/10th the amount that i do with my LVA is my RCS, a weapon I love. Its beautiful simplicity, it hits most of the time (probably 90-95% as opposed to 40-50%) but I have to land 6-18 hits for every one hit I get with my LVA.

why not a Lance you ask? come on... the variance is so bad half your hits basically count as misses cause they are for so little.

Master weapons should have tighter variances, better speed, better accuracy, relatively low HAM costs.

Pikeman: ...Who?
