Thread: Quick question on the basics
I'm still struggling with the LVA. Reading all the other posts, I'm left with some basic gaps in my understanding. Could someone please explain to me the SPECIFICS of intimidate, warcry, taunt and CoB?
Thank you
PBN
Ok, a couple reason your having a hard time is of course, those insane HAM costs on your LVA. The reason most people use Intimidate, warcry, taunt and CoB is that they practicly stop most enemies from attacking you. Intimidate cuts damage a good 35-50% (not sure on the exact numbers), this is an awsome skill to use. Warcry of course stops enemies from attacking, but I find it useless unless you have KD. I would hold out on using CoB untill you hit novice pikeman (dosent do much untill you get more bonuses).
Now a combo of a Doctors buff and your food would make you a walking god with the right armor =), hope this is what you where asking for hehe.

actually, it is, for the most part. I gather I should hotkey intimidate (will do). Can you explain about the warcry though? I believe taunt only gains aggro. (good for a pull - though, I've noticed socials will still mass rush me) Warcry prevents them from attacking??? (sounds too good to be that simple)
also... would a good start to combat be:
/taunt
/warcry
/intimidate
/stunattack1
/spinattack1
Thanks in advance,
PBN
Ok, for the most part warcry is to good to be true, in pvp it actully stops people from talking/using skills/ and attacking. for pve it stops a creature from doing the same. Now, I have never actully found out how taunt works, it seems to just ingage combat, but I could be wrong. Your idea for the /taunt /warcy /intimidate / stun and /stun is pretty good (that is if you want to spam specials hehe)

Intimidate is 50% dam red... intimidate2 increases the duration. Taunt is excellent when you are in a group and you see a creatures aggro on your doctor friend.. it will if sucessful, change the creature to attack you instead of the poor helpless doctor
Only time I've experienced problems with taunt is when the group has Large pets and the aggroing creature is agressive against those pets.
tip: a good idea could be to macro your bleeds ![]()
um... what bleeds?
I'm still playing with the basics (1/3 way to novice, right now). To my limited knowledge, this is what I have for strikes:
polearmhit1 - increased damage, random pool
polearmleghit1 - increased damage, action
polearmstun1 - increased damage, random pool, chance to stun
polearmsweep1 - attack all targets surrounding you, random pool, chance to KD
Also - general tactics - from what I understand (correct me if wrong, please) intimidate buys time to try to get a stun, and stun will increase the chance for KD.

Hello, again. Would some please answer the question above, and clarify whether or not my understanding of what I can do is correct?
Thank you in advance,
PBN
Intimidate: Decreases damage output of intimidated target by 50%.
Warcry: Delays target from attacking for 10 seconds, 20 seconds for warcry2, which is also AOE.
Taunt: Changes main aggro of target. i.e. A friend is being attacked by something and is low on HAM, you /taunt the target and it will stop attacking your friend and come after you.
CoB: Increases your chance to dodge/counterattack/block by the efficacy value for the length of the duration value.
Stun: Increases your to-hit against your target, making them easier for you, well, to hit.

Thank you, Antares (once again)
I realize that perhaps these questions are a bit too basic as most that would engage in a combat class have already done the math (often, literally) - however, I am Roleplayer, and part of the role is mastery of staff. In a way, I'm bound (for personal reasons IC and OOC) to the weapon (char name is Misterie Baton-Noire (black-staff)). As such, I need to learn not how the best combat effectiveness can be reached, so much as how the best use of this weapons can be obtained. In this you have been extremely helpful, and for that I am grateful.
