Hi all,

I was wondering what the advantages of getting Master Brawler are for us Pikemen/Pikewomen. Pros/Cons?

The increased melee/ranged defenses are very nice, but the main advantages are intimidate2 and warcry2. Those are definitely worth it if you are wanting a good pure or nearly-pure brawler template.

pros:

better berserk, better intimidation (+20 to each), also get berserk2/intimidate2
accuracy, speed, toughness +5
ranged/melee defense +5
warcry/taunt +20/+30 and warcry2

also get lunge2, very nice if things are kiting you

cons: 48 skill points, lots of time

I would say if you have the time and skill points the advantages make it worth your while to get master brawler

Oh yes, lunge2. That's a 30m KD (20m + the new 10m client-server sync fudge factor)

yes, and what an excellent skill against TKA(KD them from afar before they can KD you when close)... I use it all the time in PvP(PvP on a battlefield or in my boxers).

Not worth it. You end up spending 14 skill credits on TK skills you never use, 14 skill credits on 1h-sword skills you never use, and 14 skill credits on 2h-sword skills you never use. That's 42 skill credits you never use. Then you'll spend 5 on master brawler for a total of 47.

Are you already a novice scout? Do you already have Exploration 3 for the terrain negotiation bonus?

If so, then you are only 14+5+6 = 25 skill credits from novice CH. That leaves you 22 more skill credits to spend in the CH tree - you can get 5 boxes with that, which under the new system will let you control a a critter in what, the mid 20's? You don't need intimidate or warcry if you're not the one taking the damage.

Another thing you could do with 47 skill credits is get all 4 pharmacology boxes and all 4 first aid boxes and be able to use stim C's and heal your entire HAM bar in one shot.

If you're looking for the most efficient augmentation to any combat profession, CH is it, followed by medic. If you're just looking to role-play, by all means, take master brawler.

It's worth it.

5 extra points to toughness is pretty significant...for us at least. Also the accuracy, speed, CoB effectiveness and duration bonuses don't hurt at all. Then there is warcry2 and intimidate2. The bonuses definately justify the sp expenditure at this point in time.

It is defiantely worth it and takes little to no time to master. Took me (no BS) 5 hours to master.Being a master pistoleer with 2 bleeds made it possible.

its worth it if you arn't going to do anything else with the skill points. Warcray and intimadte 2 are very power full moves, but so is meditate, and flame cone 2, and healing, and buffs, and smuggler moves. it just depends on what you like. But it certainly isn't a waste, unless you don't use warcry 2 even if you have it, then it is pretty much a waste.

You must nor forget you are gaining a new combo by that...

This combo will help you greatly in gaining exp in the Pikeman Tree later... As a Novice, I could solo Dark Troopers with it.
