Ignore this post. I shouldn't have made it.

Sorry about that.

Good luck in the upcoming changes, Pikemen.

  • What should be special or unique about Pikeman that set them apart from the other 3 melee professions?

We should really be the most offensively minded of all of the melee professions, carrying the biggest damage. It's hard to be defensive with a spear or staff, despite the common prejudices. Watch the styles at a martial arts tournament something when it comes to the bo staff, and tell me that the style is at all defensive or slow. Our main focus should be stepping up and causing horrific damage to everything around us, but being vulnerable to attacks that do get through.

Down from there, Swordsman is a lot like us but single-target and a little more defense.

Fencer is more defensive than offensive, mostly focusing on well-timed specials to do their work.

TKA is the defensive specialist - hard to hit but can't really unleash the sheer devastation others can.

  • What should be the "basic flavor" of Pikeman special attacks?

Area attacks, designed to impact many enemies around the Pikeman. That has a number of advantages and disadvantages - just the way I like it. Knockdowns, stuns, and the general base concept that exists at present.

  • What kind or style of weapons would you like to see Pikemen use?

Less lances and things that look awkward, more special staves. A vibrostaff that's designed a lot like the polearm Darth Maul used in Episode I - just replace the sabre part with vibroblades. Spears would be good as well, so long as they don't animate like the lance does. Since a spear is a penetrating weapon, I think we should get good armor penetration. Also, electo-lances like the stormtroopers on the Dewbacks had in New Hope.

  • Do you have ideas for how future certifications should be spread out?

I think we need more of our speed and accuracy frontloaded, because the basic concept right now is just simply rediculous. I believe that weapon certifications should follow a different line in the onion each, based on what concept they're most like.

  • What kind of group role should a Pikeman typically serve?

We should be the guys who are there to handle the "oh crap" moments, when a bunch of things aggro and someone has to "dump mana" to save the group. Not entirely a glass cannon, but basically we should be the ones who are there when many things are attacking to save the day.

  • What kind of battlefield (mass PvP) role should a Pikeman hold?

We should mostly be terminal defenders and indoors kinds of soldiers. No open air where we can be kited, and in the confined quarters we should be about the scariest thing imaginable to a group of gun-toting ranged fellows who step into the same room as us. Our downer is that we'll be the most vulnerable to ranged attack when caught in the open of all of the melee classes.

  • What kind of HAM cost dispersal should a Pikeman's weapon typically have?

Heavier action than the others, but the sheer cost now is overdoing it.

  • What kind of utilities would you like to see Pikemen have?

I'd like to see us be able to really kick butt in the area attack fields, and we should be able to hand out some decent bleeding as well. Possibly an attack that does a "knock unconscious" for a few seconds, sort of like the Dizzy/KD now but wrapped up into 1 attack and with shorter duration. We should also maybe get a prolonged berserk or something like that to make our "insane flailing" style become even more formidable. And I'd really like to see the devs give us something with relation to mounts - I mean, if not us, then who?

***Hi all! Me again. In light that Gunman21 is away, I thought I would lend him a hand with something I know he'll need done asap.

Thank you Raphayl, but I believe we already got this thread started a time back now? I mean, he made the wishlist, and isn't that thread suppose to contain the wishes from pikeMen in future referances concerning the professions developing? This is the thread, and I do believe even you posted there some time ago.

Gunman21: "After a while I'll collect the suggestions and we can vote on which one is the best. I'll send that one to TH for evaluation and ask that it be included in a future update. "

I know the thread you are referring to. In reading the intention of the wishlist, it seemed it was designed to just come up with a single suggestion (single "wish" if you will) to give the devs that would hopefully get included. However, I may have misread it. It's just that we've been offered a (limited time) opportunity to offer much more in the way of shaping our future.

I knew he was gone, and things are still happening and time still ticking away. I wanted to be helpful and didn't want my friends the Pikemen to loose out.

Still... this is not my territory, and I'm not here to step on his toes. Please just ignore this post, and continue as you were. Gunman21 will take good care of you, I'm certain.

Best of luck!

Please don't take my response that way, I didn't mean you to come out as stepping onhis toes. You have done a most outstanding amount of work keeping the pikeMan forum up to date while our correspondent is absent. The idea behind this thread was agood intention and it was in no way meant to step on our correspondents toes, but rather to help him out. I am sureGunman21 will thank you for your efforts in keeping our forum "alive" while he was away.

That Burst Run and Slice thing would be a GREAT move!!!....

Basically, you mash your key to star the move, and your character gets a short burst of speed, and "follows" the target, and when in range gives a devistating KD or something...very cool...

hehe, don't tell anyone but I kinda ripped that move out of another game I m still a huge fan of, and it's called the Charge move if you know what game I speak of. After the last patch(patch 1.10), that move became godly in that specific game.

Blizzards Diablo2: Lord of Destruction, the Paladin skill Charge. I used to get a huge lance and charge into targeted players; deathblowing in one hit. Got myself some nice ears.. oh well, that's about it *waiting for WoW*
